Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.\nRole Definition:\nWorks closely with operations and product managers for automated manufacturing systems, manufacturing processes and product engineering to ensure common goals in support of product group objectives.\n· Lead manufacturing engineering functions to develop world class processes as well as governance and control mechanisms. Spearhead capital investment opportunities to deliver improved OEE results. Maintain EPP and capacity requirements to support evolving demand and customer needs.\n· Coordinate the effective operation of assigned areas of manufacturing to meet established schedules and production requirements while maintaining cost.\n· Leverage Lean principles to maximize process footprint and layout to achieve world class efficiencies within all assembly operations.\n· Supervise Manufacturing Engineering and Support functions for current manufacturing processes, new process justification and implementation, machines, equipment, tooling, work standards, gage planning and technical troubleshooting to provide the most efficient and economical manufacturing and assembly of quality products.\n· Manage and communicate facility and production readiness within the new product introduction (NPI) process, new capital introduction (NCI), and new source introduction (NSI).\nResponsibilities\nOverseeing programs and practices for hiring, performance management and developing/training the personnel that perform and support the plant operating functions.\nLeading assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, gaging and checking equipment, tooling and work standards.\nManaging development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems and other operating infrastructure used to realize operating goals and objectives.\nCoordinating release dates and availability of machines, equipment and material schedules to satisfy demand. Ensuring implementation of modern technology and verifies the effectiveness of equipment and systems.\nSkill Descriptors:\nCapacity Planning & Management - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.\nLevel Working Knowledge:\nDocuments major considerations of product promotions and analyzes their effect on production and required capacity.\nProvides management reports on actual and projected capacity requirements.\nUses available tools to interpret forecasts and work out required capacity.\nParticipates in developing short-term capacity requirements for a specific product or plant.\nCollects and collates key elements of demand chain used in developing capacity requirements. Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and\nimplement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.\nLevel Extensive Knowledge:\nManages the adoption of lean manufacturing principles across the organization.\nTeaches others about how lean approach integrates operations, customers, logistics and product development.\nConsults on work cell design and plan layout in support of lean principles.\nConsults on the use of lean approaches across multiple functions.\nTrains others on key lean measurements and tools and techniques for measuring performance.\nParticipates in detailed planning for implementing and monitoring lean manufacturing.\nManufacturing Equipment: Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate,\nmaintain, update and store them.\nLevel Extensive Knowledge:\nMonitors methods and requirements for equipment environment to ensure protection against damage.\nParticipates in evaluation and selection of new equipment.\nFacilitates the coordination and integration of multi-vendor equipment environments.\nEnsures that employees are qualified to operate equipment effectively and safely.\nAnalyzes equipment history; monitors overall machine performance; evaluates planned upgrades.\nPlans, tests and implements changes to manufacturing infrastructure and environment.
