As a Manufacturing Engineering Technician I with Caterpillar, you will improve quality, velocity, safety, and cost by aiding the engineering department in the production of our C13 diesel engines in the form of data analysis, investigation, problem solving, and process validation. Work alongside experienced engineers to ensure production runs smoothly and safely in a fast-paced environment!\nWhat you will do:\nProvide technical support through data analysis, problem solving, and Caterpillar Production Systems (CPS) \nAssist and provide support to process improvement teams \nAssist and provide feedback to team leaders including action plan follow up, use of 6 Sigma and lean manufacturing methodology and use of CPS \nIdentify and track key metrics related to assigned department or function \nAssist with process improvement opportunities, continuous review of plant operations to keep team focused on key priorities and improvement objectives \nMonitor and follow up process improvement initiatives to ensure improvements are sustained \nPerform audits to ensure materials, processes, and tools conform to quality standards \nAssist with the resolution of CPS Continuous Improvement cards (CI Cards) \nFollow standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions \nProvide information to supervisors and managers about processes within assigned area \nLead and facilitate small business team activities within assigned work area \nInvestigate and resolve manufacturing engineering related line calls \nLead, investigate, and resolve CI cards issued to manufacturing engineering \nLead, investigate, and resolve Manufacturing Engineering BIQ defects and other quality improvement initiatives, such as CCN, CIA and CAR \nParticipate and support Engineers in Standard Work, SFMEA and PFMEA activities \nRepresent manufacturing engineering at Small Business Team and Go-&-See meetings \nEdit work instructions for assembly as directed by the manufacturing engineers \nOther duties as assigned\nWhat you will have:\nMinimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience or a 2-year degree in lieu of experience \nExperience reading blueprints and reviewing 3D models \nExperience in assembly processes, best practices, test processes and validation to manufacture products \nExperience with basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges) \nProficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook \nStrong verbal and written communication skills \nWhat would make you a top candidate:\nIntermediate level proficiency using ERP/PLM systems such as PLEX, Teamcenter, and MAMM system \nFamiliarity using data collection systems such as Quality WorX and Tools Talk \nExperience with Six Sigma/Lean as either a contributing team member or possessing a Green Belt Certification \nExperience in quality control within a metal or alloy manufacturing facility \nExperience with diesel engine assembly experience in a leadership type role (team lead, project lead, lean lead) \nAbility to be a self-starter and the aptitude to learn \nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time \nAbility to perform repetitive operations \nAbility to lift up to 35 lbs. \nWe are committed to ensuring a supportive and accommodating work environment for all employees.
