Construction autonomy is one of the most complex challenges in applied AI, and at Caterpillar, advancements in physical AI, simulation, sensing, and edge computing are turning things that once felt impossible-intelligent machines operating in dynamic jobsites-into reality.\nRole Definition:\nThe Omniverse Platform Engineer will design, build, integrate, and support the NVIDIA Omniverse platform capabilities used by Caterpillar digital twin, robotics, sensor simulation, rendering, and autonomy teams.\nThe role will focus on enterprise platform services, Nucleus, USD workflows, Omniverse Farm, Kit extensions, Isaac Sim deployment, asset pipelines, automation, and integration with Caterpillar engineering systems.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, deploy, configure, and support NVIDIA Omniverse Enterprise services for digital twin and simulation engineering.\nOwn Nucleus environments, authentication and access patterns, workspace organization, connectivity, monitoring, backup, and operational health.\nDevelop USD asset pipelines for ingestion, conversion, validation, versioning, publishing, composition, and distribution of machine, environment, and sensor assets.\nBuild Omniverse Kit extensions, services, utilities, connectors, and automation using Python, C++, and supported SDKs.\nDevelop deployment and execution patterns for Isaac Sim, Omniverse applications, headless workloads, containers, and shared GPU environments.\nIntegrate Omniverse with CAD, PLM, asset repositories, scenario systems, simulation services, robotics frameworks, data sources, and visualization tools.\nSupport Omniverse Farm or distributed rendering and simulation workflows, including job submission, scheduling, monitoring, results, and failure handling.\nDefine reusable templates, APIs, SDKs, configuration patterns, and developer standards for Omniverse-based solutions.\nImplement automated build, test, packaging, artifact, deployment, and release workflows for extensions and platform components.\nPartner with rendering, digital twin, robotics, scenario framework, infrastructure, and QA teams to deliver integrated simulation capabilities.\nImprove platform reliability, scalability, performance, security, observability, and maintainability.\nTroubleshoot complex issues across USD composition, assets, extensions, networking, GPU environments, and platform services.\nDocument architecture, deployment patterns, development standards, interfaces, and support procedures.\nQualifications\nStrong hands-on experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Nucleus, Universal Scene Description (USD), Kit, or related platform capabilities.\nExperience developing software in Python and C++, including reusable libraries, extensions, APIs, tools, and automation.\nKnowledge of USD composition, layers, references, variants, schemas, asset resolution, validation, and publishing workflows.\nExperience with Isaac Sim deployment, headless execution, containers, Omniverse Farm, GPU environments, or distributed workloads is preferred.\nExperience integrating Omniverse with CAD, PLM, rendering, robotics, simulation, or enterprise data systems.\nKnowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, CI/CD, artifact management, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational support.\nUnderstanding of computer graphics, physically based rendering, PhysX, simulation assets, sensors, and digital twin workloads is preferred.\nExperience creating developer tooling, SDKs, templates, connectors, and automated validation for asset and platform workflows.\nStrong troubleshooting skills across applications, extensions, assets, platform services, networks, and GPU infrastructure.\nAbility to collaborate with digital twin, robotics, rendering, platform, QA, and enterprise engineering teams.\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Robotics, or a related discipline.\nTypically 5+ years of software or simulation platform experience, with direct Omniverse and USD experience strongly preferred.\nAdditional Details:\nThis position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Irving, TX office (Dallas)\nDomestic relocation assistance is available for this position.\nVisa sponsorship is available with this position.\nSummary Pay Range:\n$112,710.00 - $183,140.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-relatedknowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
