Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.\nRemote Control & Autonomous Network Analyst\nRole Definition:\nCaterpillar is seeking an experienced IT Analyst to serve as an onsite technical analyst for the Peoria Proving Ground (PPG), one of Caterpillar's largest outdoor machine testing and customer demonstration facilities.\nThis position requires a highly capable infrastructure professional who can operate independently across networking, wireless communications, systems administration, cybersecurity, vendor coordination, project delivery, and business relationship management. The successful candidate will partner closely with engineering, operations, facility leadership, autonomous machine teams, and enterprise IT organizations to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions across a large outdoor proving-ground environment.\nUnlike a traditional facility support role, this position combines hands-on technical execution with strategic IT leadership responsibilities supporting machine connectivity, customer demonstrations, autonomous technologies, private wireless infrastructure, facility modernization initiatives, and business-critical operational systems.\nWhat You Will Do:\nServe as a trusted IT partner to facility, engineering, and operations leadership. \nManage and support wireless, cellular, and network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, mesh, microwave, and private 5G technologies. \nEnable connectivity for autonomous and connected-machine technologies. \nLead cybersecurity, vulnerability remediation, and compliance efforts. \nManage infrastructure projects, vendors, budgets, and stakeholder communications. \nDrive continuous improvement, reliability, and modernization initiatives. \nDesign, deploy, monitor, and support large-scale wireless network environments. \nSupport Wi-Fi, wireless mesh, microwave, backhaul, cellular, and Private 5G technologies. \nMaintain connectivity supporting autonomous and remotely operated equipment. \nDevelop network coverage strategies and RF spectrum utilization plans. \nUtilize spectrum analyzers, site survey tools, drive-test tools, and diagnostic platforms. \nManage outdoor network infrastructure including: \nAccess Points \nTowers \nSolar-powered network assets \nWireless bridges \nEdge communication devices \nIndustrial networking equipment \nWireless mesh solutions \nPerform root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities to improve reliability. \nWhat You Have:\nBachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or hands on experience. \nExperience in infrastructure, networking, systems administration, or technical operations. \nExperience supporting enterprise networks and wireless technologies. \nProven project leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills. \nStrong communication, customer relationship, and problem-solving abilities. \nValid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the proving ground. \nTop Candidates Will Have:\nExperience in manufacturing, engineering, testing, or industrial environments. \nKnowledge of Cisco networking, wireless mesh, LTE/5G, microwave communications, and RF technologies. \nExperience with autonomous/connected-machine technologies and OT environments. \nFamiliarity with cybersecurity, vulnerability management, scripting, and automation tools (PowerShell/Python). \nSkills Descriptors:\nTechnical Excellence:\nKnowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. \nTechnology Advising:\nKnowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services, and solutions for a specific technology domain. \nSystems Software Infrastructure:\nKnowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers, and other development tools. \nTechnical Troubleshooting:\nKnowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operatio\nAdditional Info:\nThis position requires 5 days’ onsite at our Peoria Proving Grounds \nNO RELOCATION \nSponsorship is not available. \nWhat You Will Get:\nOur goal at Caterpillar is for you to have a rewarding career.
