You will collaborate closely with customers, Product Owners, System Architects, and engineering teams to translate complex operational and delivery needs into scalable, secure, and highly automated DevOps solutions that enable reliable software delivery in embedded and distributed environments.\nIn this role, you will define and evolve the DevOps architecture strategy, establishing enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, observability standards, and automation best practices that drive consistency, efficiency, and resilience across MineStar onboard products. You will play a critical role in bridging development, test, and operations ecosystems with onboard/embedded platforms and cloud/backend services, ensuring seamless integration, high availability, and performance in constrained and mission-critical environments.\nAs a hands-on technical leader, you will provide architectural governance, mentor engineering teams, and guide execution across a scaled Agile environment-enabling frequent, predictable, and high-quality releases while strengthening Caterpillar’s capabilities in automation, autonomy, cybersecurity, and digital innovation.\nAdditional Information:\n Location: Irving, TX (United States)\n Required Travel: Up to 10% (International)\nRelocation Assistance Offered: None.\nUS Work Authorization Sponsorship Offered: None.\nThis position requires the selected individual to work onsite at the Irving, TX office.\nWhat You Will Do:\nDrive DevOps Architecture Strategy: Lead the definition and evolution of scalable DevOps architecture, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, environment provisioning, observability, security integration, and performance optimization strategies for embedded and distributed systems.\nTranslate Business and Operational Needs into Solutions: Partner with customers, Product Owners, and System Architects to analyze delivery workflows, define requirements, and design end-to-end DevOps solutions that enable reliable, secure, and efficient software delivery for complex onboard applications.\nEnable Integration Across Systems: Provide expertise on integration between development, build, test, and deployment pipelines with onboard/embedded systems, cloud platforms, APIs, and infrastructure-ensuring robust automation, data flow, security, and system reliability.\nEstablish DevOps Standards and Reuse: Drive consistency across MineStar products by creating and governing reusable pipeline templates, automation frameworks, infrastructure modules, and best practices that improve efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.\nLead End-to-End DevOps Delivery: Oversee and contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and operation of CI/CD pipelines and platform tooling, ensuring high-quality, secure, and performant delivery of embedded and connected applications.\n Champion Quality and Best Practices: Define and promote automated testing strategies (unit, integration, system, and release validation), security, monitoring, and reliability practices (SRE) to ensure robust and resilient software delivery.\nProvide Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor engineers across teams on DevOps principles, conduct architecture and pipeline reviews, and influence technical decisions to elevate overall engineering and operational maturity.\n Own Architecture Artifacts and Governance: Develop and maintain DevOps architecture documentation, standards, metrics (e.g., deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR), estimates, and validation artifacts to support alignment, scalability, compliance, and long-term sustainability.\nDependency Management: Define and govern dependency and artifact management practices using tools such as Conan to ensure build reproducibility, version consistency, and scalable package distribution across embedded and software platforms.\nOther duties as assigned by Caterpillar management.\n\nWhat You Have (Basic Requirements):\nBachelor’s degree in engineering (software, electrical, computer) or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in lieu of degree.\n\nCommunicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.\nEffective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.\nTechnical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.Experience with Python, or C++ for DevOps automation, tooling, and system integration.\nStrong experience with C++ build ecosystems, including toolchains, cross-compilation, CMake, and Conan for dependency management.\nExperience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.\nStrong understanding of DevOps architecture including pipeline orchestration, environment strategy, configuration management, and release/versioning practices.\nExperience deploying and managing applications across cloud, edge, and on-premise platforms using containerization and orchestration technologies.\nAbility to optimize pipeline performance, build efficiency, deployment speed, and system reliability in embedded or distributed environments.\n\nStrategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of \"big picture\" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.\nInfluencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies;
