This role involves transforming legacy systems into scalable, resilient, and production-ready solutions aligned with modern architecture principles and engineering best practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, ownership and drive high-quality delivery.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead the design, development, and delivery of robust Java-based applications and services \nWrite high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code following industry standards and best practices \nConduct and lead code reviews, ensuring adherence to quality, performance, and security standards \nCollaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to define and implement scalable solutions \nDrive analysis, refactoring, and modernization of legacy systems and applications \nMentor and guide junior developers, fostering team capability and engineering excellence \nPartner with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment strategies \nProactively troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and lead production support efforts \nOptimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability \nChampion adoption of modern development practices, including automation, observability, and design patterns \nLead API design and development aligned with enterprise architecture standards \nContribute to technical decision-making, solution design discussions, and roadmap planning \nSkills Required:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience \n9+ years of experience in software engineering, or distributed systems \nStrong proficiency in Java/J2EE, OOP principles, and advanced design patterns \nExtensive experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot) and RESTful API development \nSolid expertise in JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, and relational databases (SQL) \nHands-on experience with unit testing and integration testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito) \nStrong experience with Git, branching strategies, and build tools such as Maven/Gradle \nProven ability in debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving in complex systems \nExperience with Docker, containerization, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP preferred) \nGood understanding of scalability, distributed systems, and system integration patterns \nExposure to automation, AI/ML integration concepts, or modern engineering trends is an advantage \nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence, mentor, and work effectively across teams \nThis position requires working onsite five days a week.Relocation is available for this position.Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.Posting Dates:\nOctober 27, 2026 - November 9, 2026Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
