Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.\nSenior Design Engineer\nAs a Senior Design Engineer for the Drivetrain Systems Team of Building Construction Products (BCP), you will be responsible for selection, design, integration, and improvement of transmissions, axles, and driveshafts for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs as well as supporting resolution of NPI and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) issues. Other responsibilities will include component design, project management, systems integration, performance analysis, cost evaluation, and collaboration with suppliers, product groups, internal engineering experts, and the global strategic sourcing team.\nJob Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:\nNew product design and development including project planning, part design, systems integration, procurement of test bed and prototype iron, field follow of pilot machines, and production implementation.\nDesign and select drivetrains based on performance, efficiency, fit, total cost of ownership and R&D timeline.\nProvide technical leadership to define and validate drivetrain solutions for NPI, CPI and NTI projects.\nTechnical support to the manufacturing teams at BCP facilities worldwide.\nResolution and support of CPI issues.\nInterface with suppliers to improve quality while developing effective working relationships.\nCollaborate with internal process partners on technical, commercial, and program issues.\nSupport cost reduction efforts with emphasis on value adjusted cost effectiveness.\nRequired Qualifications\nEngineering degree or related experience with demonstrated competency.\nDemonstrated and relevant product development experience in machine or system area\nStrong Communication skills.\nAbility to self-direct without onsite supervision\nAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently and effectively prioritize work.\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external process partners.\nProject Management experience\nDesired Qualifications\nProficiency in Pro/Engineer or CREO.\nKnowledge of systems and tools including but not limited to CPI, HVC, PRWB, RWA, DATK, FMEA, APQP, BJA, Dynasty, and data acquisition.\nSupplier development and quality improvement experience.\nIn depth knowledge of drivetrain industry including understanding of factors that influence cost and quality such as design, manufacturing techniques, sourcing, and assembly processes.\nDrivetrain component design, performance analysis, and/or validation.\nMachine systems integration, performance, or controls experience.\nStrong analytical skills.\nEmphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks.\nCATERPILLAR\nCaterpillar is a world leader in construction and mining equipment-creating innovative, cutting-edge products and services that help our customers build the world around us.
