Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.\nRole Overview\nThe Java Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining high-quality software solutions using modern Java-based technologies in an agile environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and deploy scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.\n\nParticipate in requirements analysis, technical design, and architecture discussions.\n\nBuild and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.\n\nPerform unit, integration, and automated testing following TDD/BDD practices.\n\nConduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.\n\nWork with DevOps and support teams to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.\n\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines, build, release, and deployment processes.\n\nMentor junior engineers and contribute to team skill development.\n\nCollaborate effectively within distributed agile scrum teams.\n\nTechnical Skills & Experience\nStrong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.\n\nExperience with microservices, service-oriented architecture, and RESTful web services.\n\nHands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) including Lambda, ECS, S3, SNS, Kinesis, and CloudWatch.\n\nExperience with containerization using Docker.\n\nProficiency in relational and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Snowflake.\n\nFamiliarity with API tools such as Swagger and Postman.\n\nStrong knowledge of software development life cycle and agile methodologies.\n\nExperience with GitHub, branching strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and modern AI-assisted development tools.\n\nQuality & Testing\nStrong commitment to code quality, performance, reliability, and maintainability.\n\nHands-on experience with automated testing, unit testing, and integration testing.\n\nKnowledge of application performance monitoring and troubleshooting.\n\nSoft Skills & Collaboration\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\n\nAbility to manage timelines, highlight risks, and provide regular status updates.\n\nTeam-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.\n\nEducation & Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\n\n4-6+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in Java-based systems.\n\nThis position requires working onsite five days a week.Relocation is available for this position.Posting Dates:\nOctober 22, 2026 - November 29, 2026Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
