The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in modern C++, Embedded Linux, distributed systems, and software architecture, while remaining hands-on in coding, debugging, and technical problem solving.\nKey Responsibilities\nDefine and drive software architecture for Telematics and Core Information Software platforms.\nLead technical design, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices.\nDevelop and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance software solutions using C & modern C++.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.\nDesign and implement middleware and communication frameworks using MQTT, ROS2, and gRPC.\nDrive software quality through code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices.\nLead performance optimization, root cause analysis, and debugging of complex embedded systems.\nChampion AI-powered engineering practices and adoption of Agentic AI frameworks to improve software development productivity.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or related field.\n14+ years of experience in software development with significant experience in Telematics, Connected Systems, or Embedded Software.\nSkills Descripter:\nStrong hands-on expertise in C, Modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20), Python and Object-Oriented Programming.\nDeep understanding of software design principles, SOLID principles, and design patterns.\nExtensive experience with Embedded Linux development and system architecture.\nStrong knowledge of:\nMQTT\nROS2\ngRPC\nTCP/IP Networking\nMulti-threaded and Distributed Systems\nExperience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Agile development methodologies.\nProficiency with debugging, profiling, and performance analysis tools such as GDB, Valgrind, Perf, and Wireshark.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in telematics, connected vehicle, IoT, or edge computing platforms.\nKnowledge of cloud-connected architectures and Edge AI solutions.\nExperience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and Agentic AI frameworks across the software development lifecycle.\nWhat You'll Bring\nStrong architectural thinking combined with hands-on technical execution.\nAbility to influence technical direction across multiple teams.\nPassion for software quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.\nProven ability to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance software platforms.\nPosting Dates:\nSeptember 22, 2026 - October 5, 2026Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
