Creating a culture of Equality isn’t just the right thing to do, it improves every aspect of our business.\nPurpose\nThe QA Engineer is responsible for the quality of software development and deployment across Causeway's product and platform engineering teams. Causeway is building toward a fully automated QA function, and this role sits at the heart of that transition. The QA Engineer is expected to be a practising automation engineer, writing, maintaining, and extending automated test suites as a primary output, whilst retaining the breadth to apply manual testing where appropriate. The balance will shift progressively toward automation as the team and tooling mature.\nThe key areas of responsibility for the QA Engineer include:\nQuality Engineering\n\nTechnical Innovation\n\nKey Responsibilities\nQuality Engineering\nDesign, write, and maintain automated test scripts across System, Integration, and Regression levels, with automated coverage as the primary measure of test delivery.\n\nApply manual testing where automation is not yet in place or is not appropriate, with a clear plan to automate those areas over time.\n\nAnalyse user stories and use cases for validity and feasibility, contributing to refinement and raising quality concerns early.\n\nDetect, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies, clearly documenting replication steps and relevant context.\n\nDetermine and agree on quality procedures, standards, and specifications and ensure that they are met at all times.\n\nEstimate effort required to accomplish testing requirements and ensure that schedules are met.\n\nEnsure that technical products are tested accurately, based on best practice standards, and on time to support business objectives.\n\nEnsure all code is reviewed before changes are checked into the main branch.\n\nMake suggestions to improve and support the testing lifecycle, actively contributing to the team's automation coverage and practices.\n\nTechnical Innovation\nContribute to the design and development of the team's automated test frameworks, helping to build a suite that is maintainable, reliable, and integrated into the CI/CD pipeline.\n\nChampion automated testing practices within the squad, promoting a shift-left approach and advocating for quality throughout the development process.\n\nApply quality engineering principles throughout the Agile product lifecycle.\n\nCollaborate closely with Software Engineers, Delivery Leads, and Product Owners to embed quality across the full development process.\n\nProvide clear testing documentation and artefacts, ensuring automated test coverage and results are visible and well-maintained.\n\nCommunicate regularly with the QA community, Software Engineers and Engineering Leads.\n\nTake responsibility for personal development, with a focus on deepening automation capability and staying current with emerging tools and practices in software quality engineering.\n\nContinuously strive for innovative solutions and make suggestions for improvements that benefit the business in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.\n\nBe willing to listen to and support colleagues, devoting time to sharing knowledge and expressing positive expectations.\n\nKey Skills, Experience and Qualifications\nEssential\nTenacious, energised and motivated with a high level of commitment and passion towards achieving quality excellence.\n\nStrong team player with the ability to work within an Agile / Scrum framework.\n\nWillingness to support other team members to achieve team goals.\n\nSolution-orientated with a positive, can-do attitude and an ability to work under pressure.\n\nExcellent oral, presentation and written communication skills.\n\nStrong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nProven experience writing and maintaining automated test scripts using frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestComplete, or equivalent.\n\nProficiency in at least one scripting or coding language (e.g. Python, C#, or JavaScript) for building and maintaining test automation.\n\nExperience with automated testing frameworks and integrating them into a CI/CD pipeline.\n\nAbility to accurately debug and refactor code within an automated test framework.\n\n3 years of experience as a QA Engineer or in a similar role, with demonstrable automation output.\n\nExperience with Agile (Scrum) methodologies.\n\nAble to produce high-quality test plans, documentation, and reports.\n\nProficient at identifying and communicating bugs and documenting replication steps accurately.\n\nExperience executing RESTful API testing using tools such as Postman or SoapUI.\n\nUnderstanding of load, soak, stress, and system testing concepts.\n\nAbility to push and pull source code using Git or equivalent.\n\nUnderstanding of the OWASP Top 10 software vulnerabilities.\n\nGood knowledge of quality standards, legislation, and best practice.\n\nAwareness of TDD (Test Driven Development) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).\n\nDesirable\nISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent.\n\nExperience with test coverage and reporting tools such as Azure Test Plans or SonarCloud.\n\nExperience with performance or security testing tooling.\n\nKnowledge of the construction, engineering, or field service management industry.\n\nOur Values\nWe areUnited.
