The role requires a commitment to safety, punctuality, and respectful service to Wounded, Ill, and Injured (WII) Soldiers.\nMUST be able to work at both of or client sites (Bethesda and Fort Belvoir and surrounding areas) for passenger transport.\nThis is a PART TIME position (up to 30 hrs a week)\nResponsibilities\nKey Responsibilities\nClass \"B\" Bus Driver with Passenger Endorsement:\nDrives minibus, bus, or van to transport clients, trainees, or government personnel over specified or alternate routes to local or distant points according to the time schedule.\nAssists passengers.\nRegulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.\nCompliance with local traffic regulations, and reports delays or accidents.\nDrives vehicle from individual or central loading area to social services or rehabilitation center, training location, job site, or other destination according to assigned schedule.\nMust inspect bus and check gas, oil, and water before departure as well as other PMCS checks.\nTransports soldiers, pupils and/or government officials and patrons between pickup points and school.\nMust be able to drive diesel, and/or electric powered transit equipment to transport passengers over established city and governments routes.\nDrivers must be able to assist STs into and out of vehicle; in doing so drivers might need to lend minimal physical assistance to passengers while loading and unloading. Must load wheelchairs with passengers seated, secure passengers, then secure wheelchair(s) to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.\nMust be able operate phones or similar device to communicate with base station or other vehicles to report disruption of service.\nClean vehicles, service vehicles with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.\nKeeps record of trips and/or behavior of passengers. Complete all required documentation neatly and completely, daily.\nPerform other duties when not driving as directed by the Supervisor, such as:\nTake a vehicle to or from a maintenance provider, \nmove a SRB operated vehicle as required by contract personnel, \nadd, or remove items to the vehicle as required by contract personnel,\nreceive new equipment training as required by government contract personnel, \nassist in reconfiguring a vehicle as required by government contract personnel, \nrespond to customer inquiries, and \nsecure keys and materials at the end of each shift.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nQualifications - Here’s What You Need\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nBus drivers/operators Class B License with Passenger Endorsement (valid state operator’s license appropriate for the equipment being operated)\nDemonstrable experience in a professional driving position with a clean driving record and proficiency in vehicle operational safety.\nMust be able to speak, read, write, and understand English to a standard required for safe operations and effective communication.\nMust be able to pass annual Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical exams.\nValid Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) or the ability to obtain one. \nMust be able to obtain Army Accident-Avoidance card.\nQualified in operating American Disability Act (ADA) equipped vehicles and assisting with the transfer of patients onto and out of shuttles.\nMust have or be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated NACI clearance.\nReports to: Project Manager\nWorking Conditions \nCapable of performing outdoor work under all climatic conditions.\nPhysical ability to:Assist individuals on and off bus, \nSit for extended periods of time while operating buses,\nVisual acuity that meets DMV and/or DOT requirements for driving, \nHearing and speaking to exchange information,\nReach, pull and push,\nBend at the waist, kneel, and or crouch to inspect buses and assist individuals,\nLift moderately heavy objects,\nPush or pull wheelchairs,\nDexterity of hands and fingers to operate bus control panel.\n\nVaried environmental conditions within the National Capital Region.\nRequirement for occasional travel outside the NCR.\nAbility to respond and adapt to changing schedules.\nMust be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.\nMay be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.\nMay be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.\nOther Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
