What makes this Principal Software Engineer role at CData unique is that it's a true technical leadership position, not a pure architecture or management role. We're looking for someone who wants to remain deeply involved in software development, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and is still passionate about writing great code.\nAs a Principal Engineer, you'll help define technical direction and influence product strategy, but you'll also be hands-on in the development process. We believe the best technical leaders stay close to the code, understand the challenges their teams face, and lead by example.\nThis role offers significant influence. You'll have the opportunity to shape the product roadmap, drive architectural decisions, and help build engineering best practices across one of CData's largest engineering organizations outside of our US headquarters. You'll also play an important role in mentoring and coaching junior engineers, helping them grow into strong technical contributors.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead the design and development of robust, scalable, and cloud-native SaaS solutions using Java and .NET technologies.\nBuild highly available and fault-tolerant systems to support a rapidly growing user base.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to the development team, driving best practices and ensuring code quality.\nOptimize system performance and scalability through efficient design and implementation.\nConduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance product quality and reliability.\nStay updated with the latest cloud technologies and industry trends and evaluate new tools and frameworks to enhance development efficiency.\nDrive innovation and continuous improvement within the SaaS product development process.\nExperience & Skills:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.\n12+ years of experience in software development with expertise in Java technologies.\nProven experience in designing and architecting cloud-native SaaS solutions.\nStrong knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).\nExperience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, Kotlin, and other Java frameworks for building scalable applications.\nProficiency in database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, etc.\nExperience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus\nAdditional Skills:\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively. \nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.\nSelf-motivated and strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.\nDemonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach junior team members.\nWhat CData offers is the opportunity to directly influence the direction of the product, remain hands-on with technology, and help shape the growth of a talented engineering organization.
