Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed.\nThe Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical Design works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.\nDetailed Description\nPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:\nLead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling. .\nProvide technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas\nTake responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).\nReview and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.\nAnalyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans.\nLead the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.\nMay manage relationships with key vendors/partners.\nResearch systems ideas and will draw up plans for these systems\nDesign, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.\nCreate designs in line with Celesticas procedures, regulations and customer standards\nKeep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations\nSolve complex problems\nLiaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.\nRecommend system modifications\nElectrical:\nCreation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.\nAnalyzing and interpreting data and information\nCreating reports and documentation\nMechanical:\nPrepare calculations on the proposed solution before completing technical drawings. Sketch and draw up designs using input from other engineers, requirements and input from design review (DFx) team\nCalculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis\nSubmit drawings to management, engineering teams and customers for review.\nProvide support during the manufacturing process\nFinalize designs and send prints to the production department\nKnowledge/Skills/Competencies\nRefer to technical skills below\nPhysical Demands\nDuties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.\nDuties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. \nRepetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.\nOccasional travel may be required.\nTypical Experience\n10+ years of related experience with leading project(s) from candle to grave\nTypical Education\nBachelor's Degree in E&E, Electrical Engineering as preferred engineering course.
