Interacts with and influences management and/or customers on significant issues.\nDetailed Description\nPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:\nDirects activities to support all manufacturing operations equipment availability (uptime), preventative maintenance of equipment, scheduling of technician training, project planning and implementation, scheduling of equipment installation, purchasing of spare parts and supplies for area related needs.\nSupports and manages customer test process sustaining effort including incorporation of engineering changes and identifying yield improvements efforts.\nManages activities pertaining to new product test development and implementation into manufacturing.\nMay manage a group of engineers with the responsibility for the completion of multiple related projects encompassing several different areas (i.e. Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier, etc.).\nTracks the execution of the projects under development.\nAssists upper management and business development teams by providing technical input and direction to assist in meeting the project goals or customer requirements.\nEnsures that any customer or manufacturing issues related to existing products are addressed with high priority.\nConduct engineering analysis and/or testing of products to validate that products meet customer requirements.\nKnowledge/Skills/Competencies\nEngineering Foundation Competencies\nIn-depth knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards, subassemblies, or other related company products.\nIn-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for systems and printed circuit boards and subassemblies.\nIn-depth knowledge of industry and quality standards and SPC methodologies.\nIn-depth knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems and printed circuit boards and subassemblies.\nIn-depth knowledge of material science, robotics, machine programming.\nIn-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts and contract negotiations.\nIn-depth knowledge of design engineering (e.g., analog circuit design, digital circuit design, digital integrated circuit design, etc.) for systems and printed circuit boards.\nIn-depth knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages.\nIn-depth knowledge of manufacturing and SCM/Logistics information processes.\nExcellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills.\nExcellent project management, presentation, database management and computer skills.\nStrong knowledge of statistical process control methods and techniques.\nAbility to design tests, evaluate results and recommend solutions to improve the processes associated with SMT and optical manufacturing.\nAbility to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems.\nStrong knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages.\nStrong knowledge of some or all of the following: UNIX, NT, database management system.\nAbility to evaluate materials, gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems.\nAbility to simultaneously manage several projects and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines.\nAbility to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.\nAbility to effectively organize, manage and motivate team members from a wide variety of departments and with a diverse group of skill sets.\nPhysical Demands\nDuties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.\nDuties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.\nRepetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.\nTypical Experience\nEight plus years of experience\nTypical Education\nBachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. \nEducational requirements may vary by geography.\nNotes\nThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities of the position.
