Provides direct management to semi-skilled and entry-level professional employees performing diverse and/or specialized roles, or employees in more than one function or work group. This includes establishing annual plans/objectives and interpretation of policies related to the functional area. Contributes to policy development. Work is performed within established professional standards and practices. Receives assignments in the form of tasks and goals and follows established processes to meet the goals of the unit. Executes budgets, develops schedules, and enforces policies and procedures. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the divisions/departments operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Provides immediate supervision to employees in more than one function or work group, assigning tasks\nand checking work at regular intervals. Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Makes hiring and firing decisions. Reviews employees performance and recommends employee compensation; coaches for improved performance and disciplines as necessary. Interacts directly with subordinates and peer groups. Builds strong internal and external relationships that require exchanging of information and providing explanations in a problem solving capacity.\nDetailed Description\nPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:\nProvides leadership and direction to the site management team and employees in the development of plans and programs to meet the companys goals and objectives.\nProvides a safe, healthy, secure and productive work environment, at minimal costs, without impacting employee/operational effectiveness.\nDelivery of facilities projects, including preparation of statement of requirements, all architectural and design engineering activity, the preparation of design drawings, specifications and contracts for tender and construction, and managing the construction delivery process.\nResponsible for estimating the cost of the project, getting all of the necessary internal and external approvals, and meeting the budget and schedule commitments.\nProjects can range from $10K to $1M +.\nImplement and maintain effective Environmental Health and Safety programs at Celestica sites.\nDevelops and implements appropriate policies and procedures in support of corporate guidelines including EH&S Programs, Chemical Management programs, Accident Investigation Processes, Emergency Response Teams and appropriate training programs, ISO 14001 compliance.\nManaging, maintaining and improving the sites existing programs in all areas.\nProvides daily management of site facilities staff, including security, maintenance, business center staff and/or contractors.\nProvides strategic direction, policy development and interpretation, on-going direction, control, counseling of employees at all levels.\nBuilding Operations include managing all building services operations including mailroom, housekeeping, cafeteria, maintenance contractors, security, business centers, supplies, meeting rooms, and supplier management.\nResponsible for the general maintenance of the site and surrounding areas including building, HVAC, general repairs, parking lots and landscaping.\nMaintaining the building utilities operations for the site and ensuring the site meets all municipal and government regulations.\nEnsures compliance to ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Standards.\nKnowledge/Skills/Competencies\nEngineering Foundation Competencies\nIn-depth knowledge of Engineering standards, municipal codes and legislation\nIn depth knowledge of construction delivery process\nKnowledge and understanding of the Facilities unit and how decisions impact the employee work environment\nGeneral business knowledge and basic financial principles knowledge.\nAbility to coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet Celestica’s business goals\nAbility to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal customers.\nAbility to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve Facilities budget and schedule commitments\nAbility to use some or all of the following PC applications: Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, Powerpoint.\nExcellent negotiation and problem resolution skills.\nExcellent project management skills and ability to multi-task.\nAbility to plan strategically for the coordinated delivery of a variety of materials.\nStrong analytical and statistical skills.\nEffectively manage numerous suppliers on an ongoing basis\nKnowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety programs and regulations including ISO 14001.\nPhysical Demands\nDuties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.\nDuties of this position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motion, standing, sitting in a confined work space, climbing, using equipment, handling ~lightweight materials, etc.\nDuties of this position require periodic heavy manual effort and considerable exertion including lifting objects over 20 pounds, requiring straining, pulling and lifting.\nDuties may require periodic sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.\nMay require occasional travel.\nTypical Experience\nFive to seven years of relevant experience\nTypical Education\nBachelor's degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nEducational requirements may vary by geography.\nNotes\nThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities of the position.
