They write, debug, maintain, and test software in various common languages and for software at various levels in the hierarchy (from Firmware to Application). Software creation follows an agreed to development process (such as Agile, Scrum, etc.) and complies with the product life cycle development (phase/gate deliverables).\nThe Engineer, Software works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.\nDetailed Description\nPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:\nDesign, develop, and maintain Network Stack components across L2/L3 protocols, management interfaces, and platform bring-up features.\n\nWork on platform bring-up projects, including the implementation and integration of Linux device drivers, Stacking, and High Availability (HA) mechanisms.\n\nDevelop and optimize NOS software, working closely with underlying ASICs/NPUs and SDK architectures.\n\nCollaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, engineering groups, and customer-facing teams to deliver robust networking solutions\n\nKnowledge/Skills/Competencies\nNetworking Stack & Protocols:\nL2 / L3: In-depth knowledge of L2 protocols (VLAN, LAG) and L3 routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.), MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS.\n\nManagement Interfaces: Experience with SNMP, Netconf/Yang, REST, CLI, gNMI, and gRPC.\n\nNetwork Operating System (NOS) & Silicon:\nProven experience in NOS development or sustenance.\n\nHands-on experience with SONiC NOS is a strong plus.\n\nPractical working experience with Broadcom (XGS/DNX family) or Marvell (Innovium/Prestera family) ASICs/NPUs.\n\nProgramming & Technical Skills:\nStrong programming proficiency in C, C++, Python, and GoLang.\n\nHands-on experience in Linux device driver development and system-level platform bring-up.\n\nSoft Skills & Competencies:\nStrong cross-functional collaboration and inter-working skills.\n\nExcellent communication skills (written and verbal).\n\nDemonstrated ability to interface directly with customer-facing teams and external technical stakeholders.\n\nPhysical Demands\nDuties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.\nDuties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. \nRepetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.\nOccasional travel may be required.\nTypical Experience\n2 to 6 years\nTypical Education\nBachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nEducational Requirements may vary by Geography\nNotes\nThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities of the position.
