About the Role

We are seeking a Materials / Field Technician to join our growing team based in Swindon.

This is a hands-on role working across construction, infrastructure and highway projects, carrying out on-site sampling, testing and quality assurance activities. You will work closely with clients, contractors and colleagues to ensure materials are tested accurately and efficiently while maintaining the high standards of service and technical expertise that MSS is known for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend construction and infrastructure sites to carry out sampling and testing activities
  • Conduct testing on soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt materials
  • Accurately record and upload test data using company systems
  • Maintain testing equipment and ensure it remains calibrated and serviceable
  • Liaise with clients, site teams and colleagues to ensure quality and compliance requirements are met
  • Support both site-based and laboratory testing activities as required
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements
  • Travel across the region to support projects and client requirements

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Experience within construction, materials testing or a related technical environment
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident using digital systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to travel and work varying hours when required

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a practical and motivated individual who enjoys working both on site and as part of a wider technical team.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and committed to delivering high standards of quality and customer service. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and keen to develop your skills within a growing business.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a salary of £29,000 - £32,000 depending on experience and provide a supportive working environment including:

  • Signing-on bonus payable upon successful completion of probation
  • Referral reward of up to £500 for successful hires
  • 40 hour working week with overtime rates available for evenings and weekends
  • Company van, phone and tablet following successful completion of training
  • All required training provided, including Safety Critical Medical
  • Supportive team environment with ongoing training and development
  • Opportunity to work within a growing business supporting major construction and infrastructure projects
  • Excellent career progression and cross-training opportunities across the wider Celnor Group

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business and develop a long-term career within the materials testing and construction sectors.

MSS is committed to providing equal opportunities and values diversity in the workplace.
