Apply today!\nJob Details\nAbout the Role\nCBS is seeking a Senior Infrastructure/Cloud Engineer to lead the design, automation, and security of our hybrid infrastructure landscape. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring deep technical expertise across systems administration, networking, Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, and Azure cloud, combined with the ability to mentor junior engineers, drive architectural decisions, and own critical infrastructure and security initiatives end-to-end.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn the architecture, administration, and hardening of Linux and Windows server environments across the organization.\nDesign and govern network security architecture - firewalls, forward/reverse proxies, DMZ zones - ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards.\nLead the development of Infrastructure-as-Code standards and reusable Terraform modules for scalable, repeatable provisioning.\nArchitect and build advanced Python-based automation frameworks to reduce manual operations and improve reliability.\nDrive deployment strategy and lifecycle management for applications across environments, ensuring high availability and performance.\nLead design, scaling, and troubleshooting of Kubernetes clusters in production environments, including capacity planning and incident response.\nOwn administration and governance of container registries (Harbor) - including image lifecycle policies, RBAC, and integration with vulnerability scanning pipelines.\nArchitect and manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure (networking, compute, storage, identity) with a focus on scalability, cost optimization, and security.\nLead vulnerability remediation initiatives across the estate - including OS kernel patching and Java JDK version/patch management - establishing proactive patch management processes.\nDrive root-cause analysis for critical infrastructure incidents and lead post-incident reviews.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.\nPartner with security, application, and DevOps teams to define infrastructure standards, compliance posture, and best practices.\nEvaluate new tools/technologies and make recommendations to improve infrastructure maturity.\nCreate and maintain high-quality documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks.\nRequired Skills & Qualifications\nOperating Systems\nDeep expertise in both Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu/CentOS) and Windows Server administration, including performance tuning and hardening.\nNetworking & Security\nStrong command of networking fundamentals, firewalls, forward and reverse proxies, and DMZ architecture design.\nProven experience securing enterprise network environments and troubleshooting complex network issues.\nAutomation & Scripting\nAdvanced, hands-on experience writing and architecting Terraform modules for multi-environment provisioning.\nStrong proficiency in Python for building automation frameworks and tooling, not just scripts.\nContainers & Orchestration\nDeep, production-grade experience with Kubernetes - cluster architecture, scaling, troubleshooting, and operations at scale.\nProven experience administering container registries, particularly Harbor, including governance and security integration.\nCloud\nStrong, hands-on Microsoft Azure expertise across compute, networking, storage, and identity, with experience designing cloud architecture.\nSecurity & Patching\nProven track record remediating OS kernel vulnerabilities at scale.\nStrong experience managing Java JDK patch/version lifecycles across environments.\nExperience building or improving vulnerability management/patch management processes.\nLeadership & Soft Skills\nProven ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives.\nStrong stakeholder communication and ability to influence technical direction.\nExcellent documentation and process-ownership skills.\nAbility to work independently and drive projects from design through execution.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCertifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CKA/CKAD, Terraform Associate, or equivalent.\nExperience in regulated, enterprise, or large-scale environments with strict compliance/security requirements.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and GitOps practices.\nExposure to monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).\nPrior experience leading infrastructure migrations or cloud modernization projects.\nExperience Required\n8-12 years of relevant experience in infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud engineering, with at least 3+ years in a senior/lead capacity.\n.\nBachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field required, or equivalent experience required.4+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related field required.\nDemonstrates advanced capability in a primary technical area (e.g., Windows Server, Linux, VMware) with growing breadth across related domains (e.g., Cloud compute, network infrastructure).\nStrong structured analysis skills to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex enterprise system outages.\nRelevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP)) preferred.\nWhat Cencora offers\nBenefit offerings outside the US may vary by country and will be aligned to local market practice.
