The role requires a unique blend of strategic leadership, operational excellence, customer-centric thinking, and technical skill.\nThe ideal candidate has a proven track record of leading high-performing teams, partnering across marketing, product, technology, sales, analytics, and operations, and delivering measurable business impact through modern web experiences. They are equally comfortable shaping long-term vision and rolling up their sleeves to solve complex challenges.\nThis role requires proven experience using AI, data, personalization, and scaled experimentation to enhance customer experiences and support growth across B2B, B2C, and B2B2C markets.\nThis is a remote role with occasional travel required.\nWhat you'll do here:\nDrive Web Performance and Accelerate Growth\nDefine and evolve the enterprise web strategy, including experience architecture, platform roadmap, governance model, and operating framework aligned to business objectives.\nOwn key web performance metrics including engagement, conversion, customer journeys, acquisition efficiency, and contribution to business growth.\nFind opportunities to enhance site performance through analytics, user research, behavioral insights, and experimentation.\nPartner with marketing, product, and analytics teams to establish measurement frameworks and performance reporting.\nEnsure digital investments are prioritized based on customer impact and business value.\nLead Optimization, Experimentation, and AI Innovation\nBuild and scale an experimentation program across web experiences, customer journeys, content, messaging, and conversion paths.\nBuild optimization vision that weaves automation, predictive insights, content intelligence, personalization, and experimentation at scale.\nPartner with SEO/GEO, SEM and content teams to maximize discoverability, organic growth, and content effectiveness.\nEvaluate and implement AI and emerging technologies that can accelerate digital experience innovation, growth, and operational efficiency.\nDeliver Large-Scale Digital Transformation Initiatives\nLead complex web transformation programs including platform modernization, CMS and site migrations, experience redesigns, and governance initiatives.\nPartner with technology and product teams to ensure scalable, secure, and future-ready digital platforms.\nBalance strategic priorities with ongoing operational excellence, and business continuity.\nBuild and Lead High-Performing Teams\nLead, mentor, and develop a global web operations group responsible for production.\nEstablish clear goals, development plans, and success metrics for team members.\nRecruit and retain top talent while building organizational capabilities for the future.\nSkills you will need here:\n10+ years of experience leading web, digital experience, optimization, or digital marketing functions, including managing high-performing teams in complex enterprise environments.\nDemonstrated success developing a web conversion optimization strategy and translating vision into measurable business outcomes.\nExperience leading large-scale web transformation, migration, or consolidation initiatives in enterprise companies.\nDeep expertise in CMS, asset management, web analytics, customer journey optimization, SEO, experimentation, personalization, digital measurement, and experience management.\nFamiliarity with AI-enabled optimization technologies, and modern digital experience ecosystems.\nKnowledge of accessibility standards, privacy regulations, and digital governance.\nAbility to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.\nStrong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.\nPreferred Experience:\nExperience within education, EdTech, SaaS, digital learning, publishing, or content business.\nExperience supporting B2B, B2C and B2B2C customer journeys and digital experiences.\nExperience working with global sites and multi-brand environments.\nCengage is committed to working with broad talent pools to attract and hire strong and most qualified individuals. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.
