The specialist handles complex coding questions, resolves disputes, manages client appeals, and develops educational materials. This role directly impacts departmental production, accuracy, and the professional growth of the coding team.\n\nWho You Are\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred.\nMinimum 5 years of production coding in a risk adjustment environment.\nMinimum 1-2 years of auditing other coders' work. \nMinimum 1 year of experience with Complete Code Capture. \nRequired experience in Medicare Advantage, Commercial, and Medicaid Risk Adjustment.\nCurrent core coding credential (e.g., CPC, CRC, CCS, CCS-P). Apprentice status (CCA or CPC-A) is not sufficient. CRC is preferred.\nAdvanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, coding guidelines, and risk adjustment models.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and coding platforms.\nExceptional communication and interpersonal skills\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities\n Superior time management and organizational skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication for providing feedback. \nExposure to different EMR systems (Epic, Athena). \nPrevious work with an encoder preferred.\nPrevious NLP (Natural Language Processing) experience preferred.\n\nThe Reality of the Role \n\nNew Hire Onboarding and Foundational Training – \nLead end-to-end onboarding processes for new coders and auditors, including initial setup of all required software, systems, and access.\nConduct intensive, one-on-one virtual training sessions to cover department processes, coding platforms (e.g., Advance), client-specific guidelines, and Centauri policies. \nDirect the work of new hires during their initial training period by assigning practice charts and performing 100% QA on their work to provide detailed, actionable feedback.\nTrack and document new hire progress through daily summaries and communication with managers to ensure a smooth transition to production. \n\nOngoing Coder/Auditor Support and Quality Assurance –\nServe as the primary resource for the Risk Adjustment Coding Services (RACS) team by researching and answering complex coding questions and resolving rebuttals between coders and the QA team.\nProvide validation support for existing staff moving to new or unfamiliar projects, ensuring they meet accuracy standards before full production. \nLead one-on-one remediation and Validation Improvement Plans (VIP) for coders who fall below accuracy expectations, including targeted feedback sessions and supplemental training. \nTroubleshoot and resolve IT and system-related issues within coding portals to ensure minimal disruption to production staff. \n\nEducational Material and Departmental Training – \nDevelop, update, and maintain a centralized library of training materials, including presentations, project-specific guidance documents, and general coding resources. \nIdentify trending issues and knowledge gaps by analyzing RACS questions and QA feedback and proactively develop training to address them.\nPrepare and lead live, bi-weekly project meetings to provide clarifications, present updates, and address common errors.\nStay current with official coding updates (e.g., ICD-10-CM, AHA Coding Clinic) and disseminate critical information to the coding department.\n\nClient and Project-Specific Responsibilities – \nManage and execute time-sensitive client appeals by reviewing coded charts, correcting errors, and providing detailed rationale to defend coding decisions.\nCollaborate with the Coding Education Manager on strategic initiatives to improve department-wide accuracy and production. \nAttend client calls as needed to provide subject matter expertise on coding and training processes. \n Participate in new hire interviews and provide collaborative feedback on candidates. \nOther duties as assigned by leadership.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4230,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"high_school","optional":true},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Malaysia","iso":"MY","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-01T21:37:50Z"}],"liveness":{"score":65,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":29,"expected_fill_days":40,"reasons":["conf:8","win:late"],"computed_at":"2026-10-02T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/centauri-remote-coding-training-specialist","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/centauri-remote-coding-training-specialist.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-03T00:34:50Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":182,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4818,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-04T00:00:00Z"}}}
