Sponsorship and future sponsorship are not available for this opportunity, including employment-based visa types H-1B, L-1, O-1, H-1B1, F-1, J -1, OPT, or CPT.\nTeam Leadership:\nLead and develop a team of firewall security engineers. \nEstablish priorities, engineering objectives, and operational work plans.\nConduct performance management, career development, coaching, and mentoring.\nDevelop succession depth and reduce key-person dependencies.\nBuild an environment where engineers have clear ownership and appropriate decision authority. \nSecurity Engineering & Delivery:\nLead engineering execution for enterprise firewall security capabilities.\nEnsure firewall changes and security controls are implemented consistently and reliably.\nEstablish repeatable engineering practices for firewall policy implementation and lifecycle management.\nBalance operational demand, strategic initiatives, technical debt, and capability advancement.\nEnsure engineering work transitions cleanly into sustainable operational support. \nFirewall Policy & Security Controls:\nProvide leadership for capabilities including:\nFirewall Policy Engineering. \nFirewall Rule Implementation.\nFirewall Rule Lifecycle Management.\nNetwork Segmentation Controls.\nSecurity Policy Standards.\nRule Optimization and Cleanup.\nPolicy Recertification Support.\nFirewall Automation and Orchestration.\nSecurity Control Validation.\nFirewall Change Engineering.\nPolicy Exception Management.\nCloud and Hybrid Firewall Security Controls.\nAutomation & Operational Improvement:\nIdentify opportunities to reduce repetitive and manual engineering activities.\nAdvance policy automation, orchestration, and standardized workflows where appropriate.\nEstablish measurable engineering processes and control validation.\nReduce unnecessary complexity and technical debt within firewall policies.\nImprove visibility into engineering workload, delivery, policy health, and control effectiveness.\nProgram and Project Execution:\nLead execution of firewall security engineering projects and strategic initiatives.\nAlign engineering capacity to organizational priorities. \nManage project dependencies, resource constraints, and delivery risks.\nPartner with application, network, cloud, infrastructure, architecture, and cybersecurity teams.\nEnsure initiatives produce measurable security and business outcomes. \nGovernance and Risk Management:\nEnsure firewall security standards and engineering practices are consistently applied.\nIdentify and escalate material security risks and exceptions.\nSupport audit, compliance, and control validation activities.\nMaintain appropriate documentation, standards, procedures, and engineering practices.\nEnsure risks associated with firewall policy decisions are visible to appropriate decision-makers. \nVendor and Service Provider Management:\nPartner with firewall technology vendors and service providers.\nHold external providers accountable for contracted engineering and support responsibilities.\nEvaluate vendor capabilities that can improve engineering efficiency, automation, and policy management.\nEnsure external resources augment internal capability rather than creating unnecessary dependencies. \nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nComplies with all policies and standards.\nEducation/Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience.\nOr equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.\nRequired Leadership Competencies:\nStrong people leadership and development skills. \nExperience leading security or network engineering teams. \nStrong understanding of enterprise firewall security concepts and network security controls. \nAbility to prioritize substantial operational and project demand within finite engineering capacity. \nStrong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills. \nExperience improving engineering processes through standardization and automation. \nRisk-based decision-making capability. \nAbility to translate technical security concerns into business risk and outcomes. \nSoft Skills:\nAbility to lead/manage others.\nCollaboration and team building skills.\nEffectively coaches and delivers constructive feedback.\nInstills commitment to organizational goals.\nAbility to communicate and make recommendations to upper management.\nEffective conflict management skills.\nDevelops and delivers effective presentations.\nDemonstrated negotiation skills.\nPay Range: $102,900.00 - $190,500.00 per yearAt Centene, we connect people to the care they need to live healthier lives - and the work you do here makes that impact real every day.
