Work with Port Engineers and Purchasing for approval on purchasing of parts, repair services and supplies. Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures and report findings to Port Engineers. Assist with keeping tugs and barges in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Assist with keeping accurate records of all maintenance performed using company software program.\nResponsibilities\nSchedule maintenance of tugs and barges based on communications with Port Engineer.\nCommunicate with Port Engineer to establish priorities and availability of personnel, equipment, and resources.\nKeep records of maintenance performed and ensure vessel are properly recording maintenance.\nWork with Port Engineer on part procurement and services for repair and maintenance projects.\nPerform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and regulatory compliance.\nAssist Port Engineer to compile and prioritize worklists for each vessel for both routine and major maintenance (dry dock periods).\nCommunicate clearly with Port Engineer on all work being performed on the vessel and notify immediately if any issues arise that may affect vessel operations.\nWork with Port Engineers on special projects to improved work flow and/or engineering processes.\nManage oil analysis program.\nPerform emergency repairs on vessels as required.\nPerform related duties as assigned by Port Engineer.\nQualifications\nMinimum of one year of sailing experience on tugs, tankers, oil barges or equivalent. Three to Five years preferred.\nTwo (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the maritime industry preferred.\nMaritime Academy Graduate preferred.\nUS Coast Guard Engineering license strongly preferred.\nKnowledge of oil transportation and marine industry preferred.\nKnowledge of tugs and barge maintenance systems and equipment preferred.\nCapable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.\nAbility to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions.\nAbility to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.\nMaintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.\nAbility to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions in English.\nAbility to work independently with minimal or no guidance.\nMust be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.\nMust be thoroughly familiar with tank barge operations, ship operations, and terminal/refinery operations.\nProficient using Microsoft Suite and basic office equipment.\nValid State drivers' license.\nValid TWIC or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.\nFirst Aid/CPR training preferred.\nJob Condition and Environment\nRequired to work aboard boats and barges using pike poles, heavy lines, winches, mechanical tools for repairs.\nFrequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours.\nExpected Hours of Work\nNormal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, flexibility in this schedule is required.\nTakes communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning vessel maintenance, repair, and operations.\nCompany Overview\nCenterline Logistics is a leading provider of marine transportation services in the United States.
