CENTERS is currently operating university campus recreation centers at ten site locations within the United States.\nProgram Explanation\nInternship program for students interested in pursuing a career in the Recreation industry. Our program is aimed at students that are juniors, seniors or master’s level that need class credit or experience before searching for a graduate assistantship or seeking full time employment.\nCampus Recreation Interns will be given experience similar to graduate assistants and looked at as professional staff while working for our department. Expectations will include:\nProgram development and oversight\nStudent staff development and oversight\nProject development and execution\nResponsibilities\nEssential Responsibilities:\nWork 20 to 25 hours per week depending on deparmental needs. \nAssist the Coordinator of Aquatics & Youth Programming with the administration, management and supervision of a comprehensive array of Youth Programming intiatives serving children aged 5-12. Includes the planning, marketing and promotion, scheduling, execution, budget and evaluation of 10 week long summer camp sessions.\nRecruit, hire, train, supervise, develop and evaluate up to 35 summer camp counselors.\nAssist the Coordinator of Aquatics & Youth Programming in planning, organization, execution and evaluation of a formal training program for summer camp counselors\nManage the registration process and logistics related to summer camps. Provide the highest level of customer service to parents, student staff and children enrolled in camps\nDuring camp weeks, enforce Campus Recreation facility, program and pool policies, procedures and regulations. Serve as liaison between parents and summer camp counselors, as well as liaison between parents and Coordinator of Aquatics & Youth Programming.\nRecognize and respond effectively to emergencies. Responsible for risk management\nCompile statistics and reports to assess and evaluate the success of summer camps. Utilize online survey tool to gather parent feedback.\nMake recommendations for summer camp programming, inventory and budget\nOther Responsibilities:\nAssisting in facility and office management;\nAttend staff meetings as scheduled\nWork within a non-smoking environment\nOther duties as required.\nQualifications\nMinimum Requirements:\nSeeking or recently completed Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Sports Management, Recreation Management, Elementary Education, Physical Education or related field.\nCurrently certified in CPR/AED/FA (or willing to obtain within two weeks of employment). Minimum 2.5 GPA (Preferred 3.0 GPA or higher);\nHigh personal integrity;\nAbility to work as part of a professional team that collaborates effectively with colleagues;\nEntrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm;\nAnalytical skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives, render consistent, logical decisions;\nKnowledge of standard practices in recreational sports;\nAbility to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles;\nAbility to pass national and local background check \nPreferred Requirements:\nAED/CPR Certified (or willing to obtain)\nPrevious experience working with children highly preferred\nCompetencies:\nTechnical Competencies\nProficiency with Microsoft Office. \nHuman RelationsInternal contacts include staff at all levels.
