View the comprehensive information about the competitive benefits package on our careers page then scroll down to CENTERS Benefits (click link to view).\nResponsibilities\nPosition Summary\nThe Part-Time Personal Trainer is responsible for providing safe, effective, and individualized fitness sessions for UAB Campus Recreation clients. This role supports member wellness by delivering high-quality personal training sessions, maintaining a safe fitness environment, and delivering excellent customer service. The Personal Trainer follows established policies and professional standards to promote client satisfaction, retention, and results.\nEssential Duties\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.\n· Conducts safe, effective, and goal-oriented personal training sessions for clients of varying fitness levels\n· Provides exercise instruction, demonstrations, and motivation using proper technique and professional judgment\n· Ensures client safety at all times within strength training and cardiovascular areas\n· Conducts client consultations, fitness assessments, and program design using approved methods and equipment\n· Maintains accurate client documentation, scheduling, and session records using designated software or systems\n· Provides quality customer service to all clients and prospective clients in a professional and inclusive manner\n· Communicates effectively with supervisors regarding scheduling, client needs, and operational concerns\n· Enforces personal training program policies, procedures, and professional standards\n· Enforces facility rules and safety procedures and assists during emergencies as needed\n· Attends required personal training and departmental staff meetings\n· Stays current with applicable fitness trends, standards, and safety practices\n· Performs other related duties as assigned\nQualifications\nMinimum Requirements:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\nPossess current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications\nPossess current Personal Training Certification from one of the following organizations, examples include, but not limited to: ACE, NASM, ISSA, ACSM, NSCA; additional NCCA-accredited certifications are often acceptable and will be reviewed for consideration\nLeadership and supervisory abilities\nEntrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm\nExcellent organizational, and written and interpersonal communication skills\nAbility to work independently\nKnowledge of standard practices in personal training and recreational fitness\nAbility to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles\nAbility to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors\n\nAbility to work independently and follow established procedures\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience working in a recreation, collegiate, or community fitness setting\nDemonstrated proficiency with fitness assessments and exercise prescription\nExperience working with diverse populations and varying fitness levels\nProficiency with Fitness Assessment Equipment, including but not limited to: Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, Body Fat measurement with calipers, Waist to Hip Ratio, Cardiovascular Testing, Muscular Strength and Endurance Testing, and Flexibility Testing.\nProficient with Exercise Prescription and developing progressive workouts for clients.\nWork Environment and Physical Demands\nWork Schedule\nPart-time schedule with hours varying based on client demand and facility needs.\nWork Environment\nRecreational/Gym Setting\nModerate to loud noise \nPhysical Demands\nLifting heavy equipment\nStanding or walking for at least 50% of the work day\nOccasional bending, stooping\nHearing and talking\nOther Duties\nPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
