Centric Brands reflects a team built on respect, for others and for the hard work it takes to achieve our goals and build our bright future together.\nSpecific Responsibilities Would Include\nAs Director, Associate Counsel for Centric Brands, you will be a member of the Legal team, reporting directly to the EVP/General Counsel, and will be responsible for licensing and other contracts, intellectual property matters, and mergers & acquisitions, with a focus on fashion, apparel, accessories and luxury goods. You will be a trusted advisor to internal business units, providing practical legal guidance that supports growth, ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and protects the company’s assets and reputation. You will also partner closely with and provide support to other members of the Legal team and external counsel on a broad range of commercial, corporate, compliance, and strategic legal matters.\nKey Responsibilities\nLicensing and Contract Management\nStructure, draft, and negotiate domestic and international brand licensing agreements, joint ventures, endorsements, and collaborations.\nEnsure compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations across all licensing activities, and serve as a liaison between legal and business teams to support licensing transactions.\nDraft, review, and negotiate a broad range of other commercial contracts including vendor agreements, service agreements, partnership deals, distribution contracts, and NDAs.\nProvide contract support to cross-functional teams such as design, sourcing, marketing, sales, and operations to ensure business alignment and risk mitigation.\nDevelop and maintain contract templates and playbooks.\nIntellectual Property\nConduct legal clearances and risk assessments for trademarks, brands, products, marketing materials, and licensing initiatives.\nDevelop and execute strategies to protect brand equity, monitor infringement, and manage disputes in collaboration with external counsel.\nAdvise on IP issues related to advertising, product design, packaging, and digital content.\nMergers & Acquisitions\nProvide legal counsel and risk analysis for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures.\nPerform legal due diligence and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors.\nSupport post-transaction integration efforts, including transition services, governance, and compliance.\nCorporate Governance\nOversee corporate governance matters and manage entity maintenance and corporate records.\nOur Best Fit Candidate Would Have\nJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.\nMember in good standing of the New York Bar (or eligible for in-house registration).\n2-4 years of relevant legal experience, either as an M&A or IP associate, ideally in a major law firm and/or in-house legal department.\nStrong experience in contracts, intellectual property, licensing, and/or M&A required.\nPrior experience in fashion , apparel, luxury goods, or consumer products strongly preferred.\nExcellent drafting and communication skills with attention to detail.\nSelf-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and own and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, creative environment.\nExcellent negotiation, communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.\nBusiness-minded approach with the ability to think strategically and provide practical legal solutions to internal and external stakeholders.\nIn return, we provide an industry-competitive salary, along with a comprehensive benefits plan (medical, dental, vision) that includes a matching 401(k), Summer Fridays, generous PTO, merchandise discounts, excellent career development opportunities, and a work environment that reflects our industry leadership.
