About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Telecom Network Engineer to join Ceragon's Global Professional Services team in Bucharest.

In this role, you will combine advanced network engineering expertise with hands-on operational support, working across complex, multi-vendor telecommunications environments.

You will be involved in network design, optimization, and advanced troubleshooting, helping ensure the performance, stability, and reliability of customer networks. Working closely with global engineering teams, R&D, regional teams, and external customers, you will contribute to delivering and supporting end-to-end network solutions across IP/MPLS, Microwave, DWDM, and 4G/5G technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Network Engineering & Technical Support

• Provide advanced Level 3 (L3) technical support for complex network issues across multi-vendor telecommunications environments.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and technical analysis of end-to-end networks, supporting Network Operations Center (NOC) activities.
• Investigate and resolve complex network incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective or preventive actions.
• Support the reliable operation and performance of customer networks across IP/MPLS, Microwave, DWDM, and 4G/5G technologies.

Network Design & Optimization

• Contribute to the design and delivery of end-to-end telecommunications network solutions.
• Perform network design, traffic engineering, and optimization activities to improve network performance, efficiency, and reliability.
• Provide technical expertise to regional teams during network deployments, system integration, and rollout activities.
• Develop technically sound, cost-effective solutions aligned with customer requirements and operational needs.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Technical Expertise

• Collaborate with Pre-Sales, R&D, Verification & Validation, regional engineering teams, and external customers to support solution delivery.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to internal teams and customers.
• Translate operational challenges and customer requirements into technical inputs for R&D, supporting the development of new features and service delivery tools.
• Share technical knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement across the Global Managed Services organization.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of relevant experience in telecommunications network engineering, network operations, or advanced technical support.
• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical background.
• Strong hands-on experience in IP networking, including routing, switching, MPLS, and Quality of Service (QoS).
• Solid knowledge of dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, or EIGRP, including practical configuration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience working with Microwave networks in multi-vendor environments, including an understanding of Microwave planning and radio propagation principles.
• Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting complex end-to-end telecommunications networks, preferably in NOC or Managed Services environments.
• Good understanding of 4G/5G network architectures and protocols.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and OSI layers 2-7.
• Ability to independently investigate complex technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions.
• Strong communication and technical presentation skills, with the ability to interact confidently with international teams and customers.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel internationally (up to 20%) and participate in an on-call rotation outside regular business hours.

Nice to Have

• CCNP, Juniper, or equivalent networking certifications.
• Experience with DWDM and optical transport technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network design, traffic engineering, or capacity optimization.
• Basic scripting or automation skills for network operations and service delivery activities.
• Previous experience in international, cross-functional engineering teams.
• Experience mentoring colleagues or providing technical guidance.
