If that is inspiring to you as well, consider joining us as a Development Engineer in our Westminster office.\nIn this role, you will contribute to our mission through developing innovative biomaterial, coating, and product technologies that support the advancement of bone graft solutions and improve patient outcomes. As a Development Engineer working on the Research and Development team, you will be empowered through meaningful work and career development to design and evaluate new products, develop novel materials and processes, create prototypes for field testing, optimize products for manufacturing, and support the successful transfer of new technologies into production. A typical day will include conducting laboratory research and testing, analyzing materials and product performance, designing prototypes, collaborating with Commercial and cross-functional teams on new product concepts, documenting results, and supporting scale-up and technology transfer activities.\nPOSITION OBJECTIVES:\nDevelop unique methods to process ceramic materials to generate a portfolio of potential materials with significant diversity in characteristics and surface properties. \nAcquire and analyze a diverse portfolio of soft tissue materials to identify unique properties to serve as platform for potential new products. \nEnhance and develop coating processes including coating of peptides. \nIn conjunction with Commercial, configure the hard and soft components into a portfolio of product configurations with a large variety of products characteristics conducive to surgical products associated with bone graft. \nDevelop unique test methods to demonstrate the required product properties. \nProduce a series of prototype product configurations for field testing. \nOptimize processing (design for manufacturing) for new products. \nRepresent R&D in all stage-gate decision on new product pathways. \nDevelop Quality release testing for new products. \nPerform as SME for technology transfer and scale-up activities. \nDesign, execute, and evaluate process trials and performance testing; document results and standardize successful improvements. \nAbility to document work in compliance with standard good laboratory practices. \nMust be able to work independently, planning a reasonable course of action that incorporates published information and practices into the development program. \nAbility to communicate verbally sufficiently well to be able to interact with other team members and outside contract research organizations. \nRequirements\nPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:\nExperience with ceramics-based biomaterials. \nExperience with protein coating \nExperience with freeze-drying instrumentation and applications. \nExperience with analytical instrumentation. \nExperience with bone graft materials a plus. \nSolid problem-solving skills. \nSolid analytical knowledge of biomaterials. \nStrong decision-making skills. \nExcellent communication skills - both written and oral. \nAbility to work independently, plan, and prioritize. \nEDUCATION AND PREFERRED TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:\nBS in Biomedical or Materials Science Engineering with 3-5 years experience \nMasters in Biomedical or Materials Science Engineering with 1-3 years experience \nWORK CONDITION/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
