The role is responsible for the application of approved microbiological techniques and methodologies used in analytical testing.\nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES\nAssist in microbial challenge testing of new products to determine adequacy of preservation.\nBioburden panel testing, water testing, environmental testing (ie air plates, swabs, conductivity)\nApply aseptic techniques in daily workload.\nInventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements\nProvide routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal\nPerform quality control monitoring by taking incubator temperatures, inoculating control organisms, running media controls, etc.\nMaintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, supplies\nPerform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner\nPrepare media for microbial quality and preservative adequacy testing.\nDocument media preparation and media control information in appropriate logbooks.\nMaintain appropriate notebooks and computer logs required for the department.\nOrganize the destruction of product discards and assist with special projects. \nShare information in an open, and timely manner with Supervisor\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nBS degree in microbiology or related field with 2-3 years of lab experience.\nAt minimum, 1 or more years of Quality Assurance or Microbiological testing experience in the cosmetic, nutritional, or pharmaceutical industries\nAble to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.\nAble to adapt to changes to improve company processes.\nAble to carry up to 50 pounds.\nAble to stand and sit for long periods of time.\nMust be able to rotate one weekend day.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components\nPotential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens\nNoise level varies from quiet to loud\nTemperature varies from hot to cold\nInteractive and fast-paced team oriented tasks\nOccasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.\nColor vision and depth perception\nBenefits:\nProgressive 401k Retirement Savings Plan\nEmployer Paid Short- Term and Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance\nGroup Medical\nTuition Reimbursement\nFlexible Spending Accounts\nDental\nPaid Holidays and Time Off\nMany positions which qualify for the company bonus program\nCertified Group values diversity in its workforce.
