We’re building a high-ownership team focused on solving real infrastructure problems that impact millions of patients.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for an AI-first Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to help us build reliable, scalable, and high-quality software.\nThis role goes beyond traditional QA and test automation. You will leverage AI-assisted engineering and agentic workflows to accelerate test development, improve test coverage, automate quality checks, and identify performance and scalability issues.\nYou will work closely with developers, product managers, and engineering leaders to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.\nWe expect you to think like a software engineer, automate like an SDET, and use AI as a force multiplier.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. AI-First Quality Engineering\nAdopt AI-assisted and agentic approaches across the testing lifecycle.\n\nUse AI coding agents to generate, execute, debug, and maintain automated tests.\n\nBuild AI-assisted workflows for test case generation from product specifications and acceptance criteria.\n\nExplore agentic testing approaches that can independently execute workflows, identify failures, and report defects.\n\nUse AI to analyse test failures, identify patterns, and suggest potential root causes.\n\nContinuously identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through AI and automation.\n\n2. Test Automation\nBuild and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, integration, and end-to-end testing.\n\nDevelop reusable test components and automation libraries.\n\nAutomate critical business workflows and regression suites.\n\nIntegrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.\n\nUse Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent frameworks.\n\n3. Performance & Load Testing\nDesign and execute load, stress, spike, and endurance tests.\n\nSimulate real-world traffic, concurrent users, and high-volume API requests.\n\nEstablish performance benchmarks and service-level objectives.\n\nIdentify bottlenecks across APIs, databases, microservices, and infrastructure.\n\nUse tools such as k6, JMeter, Locust, or Gatling.\n\nAnalyse latency, throughput, resource utilisation, and error rates.\n\nWork with developers to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.\n\n4. Scalability & Reliability Engineering\nValidate application behaviour as traffic, data volume, and workloads increase.\n\nIdentify scalability limitations across distributed systems.\n\nTest asynchronous workflows, queues, event processing, retries, and failure recovery.\n\nEvaluate database performance and query efficiency under load.\n\nIdentify resource constraints and potential points of failure.\n\nContribute to capacity planning and reliability improvements.\n\n5. Engineering Collaboration\nWork with developers and product managers to identify quality risks early.\n\nParticipate in technical design and code reviews.\n\nDefine quality gates and automation standards.\n\nBuild a culture where quality is everyone’s responsibility.\n\nRequired Skills & Experience\n3-6 years of experience in software testing and automation engineering.\n\nStrong programming skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.\n\nHands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.\n\nStrong API automation and backend testing experience.\n\nExperience with performance testing tools such as k6, JMeter, or Locust.\n\nUnderstanding of microservices and distributed systems.\n\nGood knowledge of SQL and database testing.\n\nExperience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.\n\nPractical experience using AI coding assistants and AI agents.\n\nAbility to analyse logs, metrics, and performance bottlenecks.\n\nAI & Emerging Engineering Practices\nWe expect candidates to:\nBe comfortable working with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.\n\nUse AI to generate test scenarios, automation scripts, and test data.\n\nUnderstand how to validate AI-generated code and prevent unreliable tests.\n\nExplore agentic workflows for autonomous test execution and failure analysis.\n\nBuild reusable AI-powered testing workflows rather than relying only on manual prompting.\n\nGood to Have\nExperience with AWS or GCP.\n\nFamiliarity with Docker and Kubernetes.\n\nExperience with Kafka or other messaging systems.\n\nExposure to Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or similar observability tools.\n\nKnowledge of chaos engineering and resilience testing.\n\nExperience with database performance tuning.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nAI-assisted automation across critical product workflows.\n\nReduced manual testing and regression effort.\n\nFaster feedback through automated quality gates.\n\nReliable performance benchmarks for critical APIs and workflows.\n\nEarly detection of performance and scalability bottlenecks.\n\nImproved release confidence as product traffic and data volumes grow.\n\nContinuous improvement in engineering productivity through AI adoption.\n\nBenefits of Working at Certify\nAt Certify, we’re building with intention and taking care of the people doing the work.\n\nYour well-being matters to us.
