This Senior Project Engineer will be part of the Plant Engineering team to support the site’s Operations and Maintenance staff. The engineer in this position is responsible for moving assigned projects from concept to successful implementation, within budget and schedule constraints, utilizing in-house and outside resources as necessary, and with appropriate emphasis on EHS and PSM impacts. Job Description:\nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\n1. Provides direction and assistance in the preparation of capital estimates, budgets, scope\ndocuments and schedule data for proposed or approved projects.\n2. Develop assigned projects:\na. Takes assigned concepts (sustaining, improvement, or EHS driven)\nand clearly outlines objective and alternate solutions, determines\nrequirements and justification and reviews with customers.\nb. Leads review and evaluation of various alternates with stakeholders to\ndevelop projected project path.\n3. Ensures all aspects of projects are defined and executed in a legal, safe and\nenvironmentally-responsible manner.\n4. Provides project management which includes focusing on projects related to design,\nconstruction, and maintenance while ensuring that the projects are well defined and\nappropriately managed to achieve business value, detailed design, procurement,\ncontracting, permitting, execution, status reporting and management.\n5. Reviews technical specifications required for projects. Provides technical support to\noperations and maintenance within area of expertise.\n6. Leads procurement efforts and specifies equipment and components used in process\nequipment. Works with internal engineering staff and managers to ensure\ndeliverables are on time and in compliance.\n7. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.\n8. Work with operations and manufacture personnel to successfully ensure project\nimplementations and start-ups.\nSUCCESSFUL INCUMBENTS WILL HAVE:\nBachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET accredited university required. Mechanical or Chemical degrees are preferred, but open to Civil, Electrical or Construction Management with applicable experience.\nMinimum10 years process engineering experience in chemical process industry is desired.\nSuccessful candidate would be skilled in process modeling; application of unit operations;\ndevelopment of process flow diagrams; piping and instrument diagrams; process\nequipment specification and process hazard analysis.\nHands-on experience in a chemical production unit.\nProficient in computer use within a Windows environment and experience using Microsoft’s\nsuite of business applications; Word, Excel and Outlook.\nGood interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work as a team player.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills required. Both informal and formal project\nwritten documentation will be required.\nPresentation skills sufficient to communicate thoughts succinctly to management.\nPOSITION SCOPE/CONTRIBUTION:\nThe Senior Project Engineer will use in-house and outside resources to ensure that projects are planned and executed within budgeted cost and completed within schedule. The Sr. Project Engineer will manage the execution of engineering design, procurement, construction and installation of capital projects in accordance with applicable specifications and standards to achieve project objectives with appropriate emphasis on EHS and PSM.
