Responsible for developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, monitoring workplace safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a safe working environment. Requires a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Thika\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nManagerial/Supervisory Responsibilities\n\nDevelop safe working procedures relating to activities with significant safety risks in order to prevent the risks.\n\nCreate and maintain a program for Environmental management system (ISO 14001) certification and continuous environmental performance.\n\nPrepare the annual EHS budget and monitor utilisation to support efficiency in cost management.\n\nOrganise and participate in statutory EHS & Environmental audits by Government Agencies and Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) to ensure full compliance.\n\nManage KVM safety activities e.g. Weekly/Quarterly safety meetings and inspections for enhanced awareness and compliance with CFAO Group safety guidelines and laws.\n\nMaintain effective working relationships with the EHS suppliers, Government regulatory agencies and the Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), to ensure group companies receive the support they require in the delivery of service.\n\nDevelop and Implement the Emergency Safety Management Plan and ensure a robust line of escalation exists.\n\nProvide a single business focus for accident and incident reporting and assist with subsequent investigation process; provide trend analysis to company and Senior Management to support and provide focus for driving positive behaviours and culture; and ensure proper record management of the occurrences.\n\nDevelop and operationalise a management system to ensure that HSE integration in core business systems across the group.\n\nLiaise with CFAO HQ and ESA EHS Representative to ensure KVM compliance.\n\nAct as a champion for safety culture. Mentor employees at all levels and drive employee engagements in safety initiatives.\n\nOperational Responsibilities\n\nDesign and implement a comprehensive EHS training program including onboarding new hires.\n\nLead the facility emergency response team, including coordinating fire drills, evacuation plans and medical emergency preparedness.\n\nManage the proficiency driving tests to ensure all staff with access to Company vehicles are fully competent to drive, to minimise on accidents. Provide final authorisation for issuance of Anzen cards.\n\nLead the development and execution of site specific EHS policies, procedures and training programs to mitigate operational risks.\n\nIncidents investigation. Investigate all workplace accidents, near misses and environmental incidents.
