This opportunity is ideal for supervisors, team leaders, and operations professionals looking to grow into broader operational leadership roles.This job is an individual contributor primarily responsible for learning all aspects of the Superintendent role to begin overseeing the day-to-day operations at the assigned location. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, logistics, inventory, quality, and customer service.\n In this job, you will:\nAssist with leading, directing, and communicating company's safety program to assigned facility staff.\nPlan staffing schedules and direct work duties to assigned facility staff.\nDetermine need for and schedule Barge/Rail/Grain Inspector as appropriate.\nConduct quality internal audits as required.\nSchedule and moderate monthly safety meetings and perform safety audits as directed.\nCommunicate with applicable departmental staff to ensure collaboration on various services (i.e. Marine Services for barge movements, Merchandisers and CTLC to meet Loading/Transfer needs).\nOversee related certification processes, and all related actions needed to maintain certification; where applicable.\nEnsure staff and facilities are compliant with all applicable state and federal regulations; take appropriate actions to correct/report incidents/findings where applicable.\nOther duties as assigned.\nHere’s what you’ll need to be considered:\nEducation\nRequired - Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent training and work experience.\nPreferred - Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Technical Systems Management.\nExperience\nPreferred - One year experience in an operations role.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nBasic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.\nEffective leadership skills\nEffective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.\nStrong decision making and conflict management skills.\nStrong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.\nStrong time management and prioritization skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.\nAbility to effective coach, mentor, and lead staff to accomplish assignments.\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment.\nHere’s additional information you need to know:\nPhysical Demands & Requirements\nThe physical demands and requirements frequencies of this job may vary depending on the specific location and operational needs as well as other factors.\nAbility to balance constantly/continuously.\nAbility to bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel and squat (constantly/continuously) frequently.\nAbility to (frequently) climb stairs and climb ladders (and work at) to significant heights.\nAbility to concentrate on task without becoming distracted, constantly/continuously.\nAbility to distinguish grade, color, odor and various damage characteristics in grain samples. (at some facilities)\nAbility to distinguish, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality odors, or recognizing\nparticular odors, using nose.\nAbility to enter information into a computer (observations, other computers).\nAbility to grasp and reach frequently.\nAbility to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. occasionally to continuously depending on daily needs of location.\nAbility to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE, when applicable.\nAbility to meet requirements of PFT and fit testing, when applicable.\nAbility to pass all required testing under FRA and DOT for this position (where applicable).\nAbility to perform work in confined spaces.\nAbility to safely walk on barge surface(s) with the ability to work around (deep/swift) water.\nAbility to stand and walk constantly/continuously.\nAbility to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio (and recognize emergency alarms).\nAbility to understand and communicate written instructions.\nAbility to walk safely on top of railcars, open gates, operate vibrators etc., where applicable.\nAbility to work extended hours, weekend, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed.\nAbility to work in an environment with high dust levels around grain and other bulk products (where applicable).\nAbility to work outside in extreme weather conditions.\nAcutely aware of surroundings with ability to quickly adjust to a signal or change in environment.\nUses near, far and peripheral vision and depth perception for task(s) being performed; may need to be able to identify\nproblems with grain.\nEnvironmental Conditions\nThe work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.\nThe physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment.\nTravel, up to 50% - dependent on location.\nThe expected base pay range for this role is:\n$58,490.00 - $77,345.00Actual pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including work location, job-related knowledge, skills and relevant experience for the job.
