Our Video Platform is a large scale, high availability system that provides video streaming, storage and computer vision for IP cameras and other IoT devices with embedded cameras. This position is responsible for applying advanced software engineering knowledge and best practices to take our Video Platform to the next level, by leading the team to design and build a planet-scale platform.\nJob Responsibilities:\nLead the team to design and build our next generation video platform\nIdentify and evaluate technologies and architecture designs that support a planet-scale platform\nCollaborate with other architects and engineers to produce thoughtful software designs of large scope and high complexity\nCollaborate with other Chamberlain domain experts, such as AI/ML, user experience, infrastructure, database, firmware, and front end developers to understand and analyze requirements for features and platform enhancements\nSpecify and implement APIs, architectural guidelines and standards for cloud software development\nSet coding standards and other best practices to create reusable code\nProvide oversight of the design review processes and implement process improvements to maintain high quality software applications\nAssess functional team skills and process maturity, outline training plans, and develop a technology roadmap to drive continuous improvement within the application teams\nParticipate in technical assessment, scoping and management of changes to the codebase on new business requirements, product enhancements and other change requests across multiple scrum teams\nLead technical discussions in community of practice, design review, or other technical meeting forums\nProvide mentoring and coaching to junior and senior engineers to increase software capability of the development teams\nReport functional team strategy and roadmap to manager and director level stakeholders to align with company strategy\nStay current on modern technologies and innovations which can further enhance and improve the commercial success of the myQ connectivity and video solutions\nResponsible for complying with the security requirements set forth by the Information Security team and the established ISO 27001 Security Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities Document found in the ISMS Document Library\nComply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.\nProtect Chamberlain Group’s reputation by keeping information confidential.\nMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.\nContribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.\nJob Requirements:\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience\nAn advanced degree in directly applicable area of study may substitute for up to two (2) years of job related experience\n10+ years of relevant job-related experience as defined in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities\n8 years of experience with cloud architecture and platform design\nExperience designing, developing, and maintaining a large-scale cloud platform\nExperience defining functional process improvements and implementing change\nExtensive experience in creating technical documentation and implementing standards of documentation for others to follow\nExperience researching technologies and setting long term technical vision for the platform\nExperience instituting best practices, principles, and standards for software development\nExperience establishing software development lifecycles\nExperience building highly scalable and reliable software solutions platforms\nExperience with Java technology stack, including Java SE, Java EE, JDBC, Hibernate\nExperience with WebRTC, H.264, HLS, ICE, video relay\nExperience with Eclipse, GIT\nExperience with SQL, No-SQL databases, queues, and messaging systems\nExperience with application performance monitoring tools\nExperience with AWS services such as EKS, ECR, Aurora, S3, KVS, SQS, Recognition, CodePipeline\nExperience interfacing with teams across the full stack, including firmware, middleware, and front-end\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nThorough understanding of software development and design principles\nThorough understanding of large scale consumer facing video access technologies, subscription service and implementation\nThorough understanding of cloud-based development\nThorough understanding of SQL query optimization and Java code optimization\nThorough understanding of multi-threading best practices, especially with regard to Java\nAbility to provide clear direction to multiple development teams across teams and geographies\nStrong leadership and communication qualities\nAbility to estimate work, support project plan creation, and report out progress to functional management at a platform level\nUnderstanding of the technologies and architectures used across the full stack, including firmware, middleware, and front-end\nOther:\nAbility to travel up to 10% of the time domestically and internationally\n\nThe pay range for this position is $159,490.00 - $267,742.00; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. In addition to base pay, also offered is a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
