We hope you’ll join our team\nPosition Summary\nThe Echocardiography & Vascular Ultrasound Technician is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic echocardiographic and vascular ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular conditions. This role performs comprehensive cardiac imaging studies, vascular diagnostic testing, and quantitative measurements while ensuring compliance with established clinical protocols, accreditation standards, and State of California requirements.\nThe technician maintains certification and competency in both echocardiography and vascular ultrasound, ensuring compliance with applicable California regulatory requirements and industry standards. This position collaborates closely with physicians, clinical staff, and patients to deliver accurate, timely, and quality diagnostic services while supporting exceptional patient care.\nEssential Functions\nPerform transthoracic echocardiograms and ensure completeness of examinations prior to physician interpretation.\nPerform vascular ultrasound studies, including arterial, venous, carotid, and peripheral vascular examinations as ordered by providers.\nObtain and document accurate diagnostic measurements and imaging data.\nVerify patient identity, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort throughout examinations.\nPrepare and organize reports, worksheets, images, and supporting documentation for physician review.\nUtilize electronic medical record (EMR) and order entry systems to access, perform, document, and complete diagnostic studies.\nTake and document physician orders for diagnostic testing in accordance with organizational protocols.\nMaintain diagnostic imaging equipment in proper working condition and report equipment issues promptly.\nMonitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of supplies needed for diagnostic testing.\nMaintain accurate records and distribution of completed reports.\nAdhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.\nParticipate in ongoing education and competency programs.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nKey Responsibilities\nEchocardiography Services\nPerform 2D, M-Mode, Doppler, Color Flow Doppler, and related cardiac imaging procedures.\nDemonstrate proficiency in obtaining quantitative measurements from echocardiographic studies.\nEnsure diagnostic image quality sufficient for physician interpretation.\nAssist cardiologists and providers by preparing complete and organized testing documentation.\nVascular Diagnostic Services\nPerform non-invasive vascular studies, including:\nCarotid Duplex Ultrasound\nVenous Duplex Studies\nArterial Duplex Studies\nLower Extremity Arterial and Venous Testing\nPeripheral Vascular Examinations\nAccurately document findings and measurements for physician interpretation.\nMaintain vascular imaging standards consistent with best practices and regulatory requirements.\nEquipment & Quality Management\nMaintain diagnostic equipment performance and functionality.\nPerform routine quality assurance checks on equipment.\nEnsure compliance with departmental quality standards and accreditation requirements.\nPatient Care & Communication\nProvide professional and compassionate patient care.\nExplain procedures and answer patient questions within scope of practice.\nCommunicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and patients.\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nGraduate of an AMA-accredited or CAAHEP-accredited cardiovascular ultrasound or diagnostic medical sonography program.\nMinimum of two (2) years of experience performing echocardiography and vascular ultrasound studies preferred.\nStrong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and vascular disease processes.\nProficiency with electronic medical records and diagnostic imaging systems.\nExcellent organizational, communication, and patient service skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.\nCertifications, Licensure & Registry Requirements\nCurrent Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential required.\nCurrent Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential required, or ability to obtain within an organization-defined timeframe.\nCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.\nMust maintain active vascular certification and all required credentials necessary to meet applicable State of California requirements and organizational standards for performing vascular diagnostic studies.\nOngoing continuing education required to maintain registry and certification status.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in a multi-specialty medical group or outpatient clinic setting.\nExperience performing both cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations.\nBilingual English/Spanish preferred.\nAdvanced experience with cardiovascular diagnostic equipment and reporting systems.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand, walk, sit, and move throughout clinic environments for extended periods.\nFrequent use of hands, arms, and fingers to operate ultrasound equipment and computer systems.\nAbility to lift, move, and position equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.\nVisual acuity sufficient to evaluate diagnostic imaging studies.\nAbility to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.\nWork Environment\nWork is performed in outpatient medical clinic and diagnostic imaging settings.\nModerate noise level typical of a healthcare environment\nMay be required to travel between clinic locations as needed.\nHourly
