About the role

As a Software Engineer at Chargebee, you will be responsible for developing high-quality backend services that power our core platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable features that handle complex financial transactions. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end feature development while ensuring the highest standards of security and performance.

What you'll do

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Core Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Develop and maintain high-performance REST APIs to support seamless integrations with global platforms.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to established engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across product and design teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues within a microservices architecture.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering standards.
• Ensure the security and reliability of data processing for billing and payment systems.
• Integrate AI-driven tools to automate code quality checks and enhance development workflows.

What you'll bring

• 1+ years of professional experience in software development and engineering.
• Proficiency in Core Java and building microservices using modern frameworks.
• Strong foundational knowledge in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design patterns.
• Practical experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to write automated unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Expertise in using AI-powered coding assistants to improve development velocity and code accuracy.

Nice to have

• Experience with billing, payments, or financial technology systems.
• Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with building or fine-tuning Large Language Model (LLM) integrations for internal productivity tools.
• Previous experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS environment.
