This position offers strong opportunities to build foundational engineering expertise while developing adaptability, collaboration, and innovation skills that directly impact business outcomes.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, build, test, and maintain software applications across the full stack under the guidance of senior engineers.\nUse GenAI tools (for example, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate coding, debugging, and documentation.\nTake full ownership of all code changes, including those generated with AI tools.\nReview, test, and thoroughly understand every change before it is merged and released to production.\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-structured code with or without AI assistance. AI-Assisted Workflows\nCreate clear prompts, task definitions, and acceptance criteria to effectively direct AI agents on your own work.\nApply spec-driven development practices to translate requirements into structured, AI-ready specifications.\nContribute to AI agent development by helping define agent goals, tool use, and simple task flows under the guidance of senior engineers.\nReview and validate AI-generated code for correctness, quality, security, and maintainability.\nApply judgment to accept, modify, or reject AI suggestions based on context and team standards. Testing and Quality\nGenerate and improve unit, integration, and regression tests using AI-assisted tools.\nEnsure test coverage meets team standards before code is merged.\nIdentify and address security, performance, and reliability concern early in the development cycle.\nModernization\nAssist in refactoring and modernizing existing codebases using AI-assisted workflows to improve readability, maintainability, and performance.\nHelp identify technical debt and contribute to AI-accelerated remediation efforts under senior guidance.\nCollaboration\nParticipate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to learn and contribute to technical direction and quality standards.\nHelp maintain custom instructions and prompt engineering guidelines that support consistent, effective AI-assisted development across the team.\nContinuously improve your AI-enabled engineering practices and share learnings, patterns, and tooling insights with peers.\nWhat you have\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field\n0-1+ years of software development experience, including internships or academic projects\nFoundational knowledge of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices\nProficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, or C#\nBasic understanding of web application development using technologies such as Node.js, Angular, or React, and familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases\nExposure to REST or SOAP-based APIs\nFamiliarity with version control systems and development tools such as GitHub and IntelliJ\nStrong problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve technical issues\nDemonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in team-based environments with strong communication and organizational skills\nSelf-motivated with a proactive approach to learning, innovation, and continuous improvement\nComfort working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment that embraces evolving technologies\nAI-ready mindset with enthusiasm for leveraging AI-powered development tools to enhance productivity, code quality, and delivery outcomes\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting and developing applications using full stack development skills\nExposure to building or extending AI agents using frameworks such as LangChain, Copilot Workspace, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar.\nExperience with at least one cloud platform (GCP, AWS, or Azure).\nFamiliarity with secure coding practices.\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions\nFamiliarity with test automation frameworks and practices such as test-driven development\nExperience contributing to software design documentation, technical artifacts, and code review processes\nKnowledge of Pega platform or business process management tools\nExposure to cloud technologies and modern application architectures\nAbility to identify risks and dependencies and contribute to mitigation planning within development projects\nWhat’s in it for you\nAt Schwab, you’re empowered to shape your future.
