You will design, develop, test, and deliver software improvements while applying strong problem solving and technical judgment to address defects, technical debt, performance challenges, and reliability risks.\nYou will collaborate with developers, technical leads, and architects to advance engineering standards, application modernization, and scalable software delivery. Success in this role requires the ability to solve complex technical problems, make thoughtful engineering decisions, adapt to evolving technologies and priorities, and contribute to reliable solutions that support strong business and client outcomes.\nWhat you have\nRequired qualifications:\n8+ years of software engineering experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications\nHands-on experience with Java and application development using modern software engineering practices\nExperience developing scalable, reliable, and maintainable applications in distributed or cloud-based environments\nExperience applying Problem Solving and Technical Troubleshooting to identify and remediate software defects, technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability risks\nExperience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices, including automated testing, source control, CI/CD, observability, and application lifecycle management\nExperience using AI-enabled development tools or automated code analysis to improve software quality and developer productivity\nAbility to collaborate effectively across engineering teams while adapting to changing technical and business priorities\nPreferred qualifications:\nExperience with application modernization, resiliency engineering, technical debt reduction, or performance optimization\nExperience developing cloud-native, distributed, or event-driven applications\nExperience influencing engineering standards, development practices, and technical outcomes across teams\nDemonstrated Adaptability, Collaboration, and Decision Making when solving complex engineering challenges\nIn addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.\nWhat’s in it for you\nAt Schwab, you’re empowered to shape your future.
