You will use AI-enabled development tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality while maintaining accountability for code accuracy, testing, security, performance, and production readiness.\nWhat you have\nWhat You Have\nPassion for applying AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate software delivery, improve code and test quality, strengthen troubleshooting, and support application modernization.\nStrong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and a commitment to designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting high-quality software solutions.\nAbility to translate business and technical requirements into maintainable software designs, services, integrations, automated tests, and clear technical documentation.\nExperience developing secure, scalable, resilient, observable, and supportable distributed applications using sound engineering principles and modern development practices.\nCommitment to engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, secure coding, operational stability, observability, and continuous improvement.\nAbility to troubleshoot complex application and integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.\nStrong ownership and accountability for delivered solutions throughout the software lifecycle, including production support.\nStrong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across technology, product, business, and operations teams and learn new technologies and domain concepts quickly.\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of professional software development experience building and supporting enterprise applications, including 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services, microservices, and distributed application architectures.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nExperience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar technologies for code generation, test creation, troubleshooting, documentation, and development acceleration while maintaining ownership of code quality, accuracy, security, and performance.\nExperience designing and delivering secure, scalable, resilient, and high-performing solutions for highly available, high-volume transaction processing systems using object-oriented principles, software design patterns, event-driven architectures, enterprise integration patterns, and large-scale distributed systems.\nExperience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, SQL development, data modeling, persistence frameworks, and application integration solutions.\nExperience with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms.\nExperience implementing unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end testing, along with source control, CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and DevSecOps practices across the software development lifecycle.\nExperience working in Agile delivery teams and supporting all phases of software delivery, including requirements analysis, development, testing, implementation, production support, incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.\nExperience monitoring, supporting, and improving production applications in Linux or Unix environments using observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, AppDynamics, or similar tools.\nStrong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to communicate risks, dependencies, and blockers and to quickly learn new technologies, business processes, and domain concepts.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting settlement processing, securities processing, custody operations, reconciliations, post-trade workflows, or other broker-dealer platforms.\nUnderstanding of securities processing lifecycles, settlement business processes, operational controls, risk management practices, and regulatory requirements.\nExperience developing and supporting batch-processing solutions using Spring Batch, Control-M, or similar enterprise scheduling technologies.\nExperience modernizing, integrating with, or supporting legacy platforms, including mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, DB2, Datacom, or CICS.\nExperience with ISO financial messaging standards and securities transaction processing.\nExperience developing or supporting solutions on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.\nFamiliarity with authentication and authorization frameworks such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT, or similar technologies.\nExperience working in highly regulated environments such as financial services.\nWhat’s in it for you\nAt Schwab, you’re empowered to shape your future.
