Our organization implements trading capabilities and risk management capabilities for digital assets, equities, options, futures, and forex for Schwab’s active trader client base at scale of 5+ million trades per day, along with providing an efficient and flexible experience for day-to-day operations, including trading operations and margin associates. \nThe Senior Specialist Developer will work within an Agile development team to define, deliver, and manage the lifecycle of software solutions. This role is dedicated to collaboratively understanding business needs and implementing robust technical solutions that not only meet business objectives but are also reusable, scalable, and secure. They improve delivery outcomes through seamless cross-domain partnership and collaboration with the technology and product teams.\nIdeal candidates will be self-motivated with a passion for resolving technical issues quickly and in line with platform strategy and vision. They must have effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and learn new technologies quickly. The ability to work collaboratively across organizations and geographic locations is crucial and good written and verbal communications skills are a must.\nDesign, develop, and deliver solutions as part of an Agile Scrum team.\nSupport and triage issues and participate in production support to help develop resilient and secure systems to prevent issues that impact on our clients.\nCollaborate with product owners, business stakeholders and technical partners to define strategy and scope of software requirements (decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks)\nUtilize and develop automated software test tools and frameworks such as test-driven development to achieve the highest quality in software delivery\nWhat you have\nTo ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of 'challenging the status quo,' this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.\nRequired Qualifications\n3+ years software development experience in Java\n3+ years in business and solution architecture\nExperience with an integrated development environment (IDE) preferably IntelliJ\nExperience with source code repository (e.g. bitbucket, github)\nExperience using AI to aid software development lifecycle\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to think of the big picture. \nGood written and verbal communication skills\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in financial services or trading\nExperience with Spring Boot, Spring Batch and Spring Cloud Config\nExperience with messaging platforms (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, Solace, FTL, Red Panda)\nExperience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)\nExperience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and/or Oracle Coherence\nExposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)\nComfort level with the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo)\nContributes ideas for new approaches or technologies within a defined scope\nIn addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities\nWhat’s in it for you\nAt Schwab, you’re empowered to shape your future.
