If you’re energized by entrepreneurship and excited about shaping culture, talent, and technology in a brand-new environment, this is where you’ll make your mark.\nWhat you have\nOverview of the Role\nAs a People Leader within the Analytical Data Platform Engineering (ADPE) organization, you will lead and grow two complementary engineering teams within Schwab Data India: the Data Tools team, which builds and maintains full-stack automation tools and applications that streamline data engineering workflows for Schwab’s hundreds of ETL developers; and the Control-M team, which designs, develops and supports mainframe and distributed batch scheduling across an enterprise environment that demands highly secure and reliable batch processing. You will be accountable for the people leadership, technical direction, delivery, and operational excellence of both disciplines - partnering closely with Business stakeholders, Data Engineering teams, Production Control, and the U.S.-based Data Tools and Control-M teams.\nKey Responsibilities\nPeople Leadership & Team Development\nLead, coach and grow two engineering teams - Data Tools (Python/Angular full-stack developers) and Control-M (batch scheduling developers) - providing technical guidance and career development support to each.\nBuild skills across both teams through cross-training and mentoring, treating every interaction as an opportunity to learn or teach.\nOwn hiring, onboarding, performance management, and retention; participate in interviews and technical assessments for both Data Tools and Control-M roles.\nFoster a collaborative, inclusive, high-performance environment aligned with Schwab’s values and OneSchwab/OneGCC culture.\nBalance and prioritize capacity across both teams, ensuring the right skills are applied to the right work at the right time.\nTechnical Leadership & Delivery\nGuide the design, development, and delivery of full-stack web applications (Python and Angular/React) that automate and streamline data engineering workflows.\nOversee the design, development, and support of Control-M mainframe and distributed batch scheduling solutions across multiple applications, ensuring highly secure and reliable batch processing.\nParticipate in and drive architecture discussions and technical solution design across both the application and scheduling stacks.\nEnsure engineering excellence through code reviews, unit testing, coding standards, and clear technical documentation, design specs, and solution diagrams.\nOwn end-to-end delivery of sprint and project commitments across both teams, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with Schwab Data standards.\nChampion automation everywhere - both in application development and in Control-M batch operations - and drive continuous process improvement.\nLeverage AI and Generative AI technologies to accelerate development, automate repetitive workflows, and improve observability and efficiency across both portfolios.\nStakeholder Engagement & Collaboration\nPartner with Business stakeholders and Data Engineering teams to understand requirements and translate business needs into implementable technical solutions.\nWork closely with application support teams and Production Control to resolve business and service-impacting problems, escalating with the appropriate sense of urgency.\nCreate and deliver presentations and demos to leadership, project sponsors, and technical peers.\nCoordinate with the U.S.-based Data Tools and Control-M teams for alignment, knowledge sharing, and consistent delivery quality.\nSupport project planning and provide accurate effort estimations across both teams.\nOperational Excellence\nImplement scalable, compliant delivery frameworks suited to a regulated financial services environment.\nEnsure adherence to Schwab’s privacy, security, and regulatory standards across all deliverables, applications, and batch schedules.\nDrive retrospectives, service reviews, and process automation that produce measurable quality and efficiency gains.\nSupport CI/CD pipeline maintenance, deployment processes, and environment management.\nRequired Experience\nMinimum 15+ years of hands-on technical experience across software development and/or enterprise batch scheduling.\n5+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or managing engineering teams (people leadership).\nMust have a minimum of 3+ recent experience in GCP native services and CI/CD practices.\nStrong understanding of full-stack application development with Python and Angular/React, sufficient to lead and review the Data Tools team’s work.\nStrong understanding of Control-M administration and development, including mainframe and distributed batch scheduling, sufficient to lead and review the Control-M team’s work.\nMust have experience in AI assisted development\nProficiency in SQL and a solid understanding of relational database infrastructure.\nPractical experience working with distributed/offshore teams and agile delivery methodologies.\nExperience in data engineering, ETL processes, or data platforms is strongly preferred.\nPreferred Experience:\nA proven track record of automating Control-M tasks and application/DevOps workflows.\nData Warehouse and ETL knowledge or experience.\nExperience managing environments - certificates, server upgrades, high availability/disaster recovery.\nSkills and Attributes\nStrong problem-solving and analytical thinking with the ability to provide creative solutions.\nAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.\nExecution focus: proven ability to operationalize strategy and deliver high-impact outcomes.\nTalent builder: experienced in coaching and developing high-performing teams across disciplines.\nStrategic mindset: ability to translate team goals into actionable delivery plans and measurable results.\nExcellent at gauging customer impact and escalating with the appropriate sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.\nWhat’s in it for you\nAt Schwab India, you’re empowered to shape your future.
