Every day, you will be creating special moments for our patients.\nThe Opportunity (Role Summary)\nThe Lab Technician is responsible for performing blood sample collection, process on lab machine, ensure proper patient ID and labelling, determine appropriate drawing method, maintain accurate records, organize documents, receive training in Andrology, maintain a clean work station, follow infection control standards, and fulfil assigned duties. You are expected to be courteous, and sympathetic when it comes to working with patients and dealing with them.\nResponsibilities\nCollect blood samples from patients.\nProcess the sample on Laboratory machine as guidelines.\nPractice proper patient identification, labeling vials properly.\nDecipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.\nKeep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests.\nCollects and organizes documents as required.\nTo be trained on Andrology (Semen analysis, sperm wash.etc.).\nKeep the phlebotomy cart and station well-organized at all times.\nPractice infection control standards while working with patients and equipment at all times.\nOther duties, as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications\nDiploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent\nCurrent registration with MLPAO (Medical Laboratory Professionals Association of Ontario) in good standing\nMinimum of 1 year of Laboratory experience specific to phlebotomy techniques\nCompetencies\nTeamwork\nAttention to detail\nLeadership including leading innovation, energizing and developing people, delivering outstanding results\nIntegrity, accountability, and highly organized\nAnalytical skills to resolve problems and think creatively\nVerbal and written communication skills\nOrganizational skills to prioritize and plan work, multi-task, and meet schedules\nAdaptable and flexible; able to think quickly in challenging situations\nSpecialized skills, knowledge, or certifications unique to this role\nExperience with effective puncture techniques\nUnderstanding of proper patient identification methods\nKnowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples and use of relevant medical equipment and material\nExcellent communication skills and interpersonal skills\nAbility to work safely and accurately, follow directives from assigned Director of Operations, and complete assigned tasks promptly\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and adjust to varying work assignments as needed, or independently, as required\nPosition Status:This is an existing vacancy.\n*This role requires the ability to rotate at all of our clinic locations in Oakville, Etobicoke and Brampton.\nCHARM Group is an equal-opportunity employer that is committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace.
