Join the team and become part of our family!\nCharter Casting is hiring a Quality Engineer for our Continuous Casting Bar product!\nJob Summary:\nSupport the philosophy of zero defects and Continuous Improvement by participating in Advance Quality Planning (APQP), Continuous Improvement initiatives, and other actions. Lead or participate in problem solving teams. Complete corrective and preventative actions. Participate in other quality-related projects.\nPosition specifics:\nLocation: Woodstock, IL\nSchedule: Onsite\nTravel: Up to 10% travel to other Charter Manufacturing sites\nApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Charter Manufacturing is unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.\nKey responsibilities:\nFacilitate/lead corrective and preventive action teams resulting from customer concerns, internal/supplier quality problems, or Continuous Improvement initiatives.\nDirect customer/supplier communication and interface through problem resolution.\nLead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process and teams.\nEnsure successful launch of new products and processes, process capability and control to meet customer requirements.\nParticipate or lead cross-functional product trial review team to ensure products and processes meet applicable quality and productivity criteria.\nCreate, review, and verify all quality supporting documentation, including Work Instructions, FMEA’s and Control Plans.\nDevelop and implement gauging, standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.\nWork with related departments to design and develop new gauging processes or equipment.\nPerform production readiness evaluations, and report/identify recommended actions.\nLead Continuous Improvement projects supporting safety, quality, and productivity initiatives.\nProvide technical assistance to other departments or customers as needed.\nDevelop and maintain control of the quality management system, related communication, training, and documentation.\nDirect part analysis for internal and external requests.\nPerform internal and supplier audits and maintain auditing documentation.\nTrain employees in auditing related methods or procedures as needed.\nPromote an environment of open communication and teamwork regarding quality.\nFollow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.\nAbility to meet the essential job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as outlined in the job description.\nWhat you’ll need:\nBachelor’s Degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering or related degree\nFive plus years’ experience as a Quality Engineer.\nExperience in leading problem-solving efforts with demonstrated ability to apply team problem solving techniques. \nExperience in APQP process and PPAP submissions.\nExperience with ISO 9001\nSix Sigma experience \nWorking knowledge of drawing and test specification standards (Geometric Dimensioning - Tolerance, etc.).\nWell-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.\nDemonstrated ability to use a variety of gauges.\nAbility to travel 10% of the time (domestic)\nNice to haves:\nASQ Certified.\nPrevious supervisory experience\nStrong interpersonal and team-leading skills.\nConceive, plan, organize and coordinate all phases of assigned special projects to improve efficiencies, simplify workflow and reduce costs.\nRun design of experiments and statistical process control on quality related issues.\nStrong Core Tools and Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge.\nComprehensive knowledge of advanced quality assurance practices.\nThe ability to manage projects and work in a team project environment is required.\nAbility to influence thru communication skill, data analysis & insightful presentation.\nExperience with direct customer/supplier contact in a quality role.\nRelated industry experience.\nTake the next step in your career, apply today!\nAbout Charter Casting\nCharter Casting is a premier U.S. partner and casting supplier for precision-engineered iron solutions. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on various factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and qualifications.
