To bring this vision to life, integrations have been at the core of what makes that possible, from HRIS and payroll to ATS systems.\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will help us drive this vision forward, by helping us build a new configuration-driven integration system allowing us to connect new systems and create new integrations faster than before.\nYou’ll also work on our AI initiatives, building AI functionality into the ChartHop product and extending it across our product areas. We are looking for someone who is excited to use AI tools in their own work and to experiment with what they can do for us.\nYou’ll Be a Great Fit If\nYou have experience building and maintaining third-party integrations (HRIS, payroll, ATS, business intelligence, or similar). Experience from outside HR tech is welcome if you’ve worked with comparable data.\n\nYou have experience with data pipelines or ETL.\n\nYou have strong back-end software development skills. Kotlin or another JVM language (Java, Scala, Groovy) is a strong plus, and strong senior engineers from other backgrounds are welcome.\n\nYou have strong API experience, including REST, GraphQL, webhooks, OAuth, and data synchronization.\n\nYou can analyze and troubleshoot API issues.\n\nYou have worked independently on a small team. Experience at a startup, on a small R&D team, or on a project you launched yourself is especially valuable.\n\nYou’re comfortable using AI tools in your development work.\n\nYou bring strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\n\nYou communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nYou manage your workload and priorities with minimal oversight.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign, build, and maintain integrations across HRIS, payroll, ATS, notifications, and business intelligence platforms.\n\nBuild and extend the configuration-driven integration system, including the functionality it needs.\n\nDesign APIs and data pipelines that connect reliably with third-party systems.\n\nContribute to AI features in the ChartHop product.\n\nOwn the full development lifecycle: research API documentation, plan, write robust code, deploy, and monitor integration health.\n\nWrite tests, conduct code reviews, and follow best practices for code quality and maintainability.\n\nWork with product, customer success, and external partners to meet business and technical requirements.\n\nImprove how we build and manage integrations, including developer tooling, monitoring, and alerting.\n\nHow You’ll Be Measured\nIntegration reliability: uptime, error rates, and data accuracy across third-party connections.\n\nCode quality and maintainability: measured through code reviews and long-term sustainability.\n\nFeature delivery: features delivered on time and within scope.\n\nCustomer impact: fewer support tickets and less friction in the integration experience, with better data quality.\n\nTeam contribution: impact on team productivity, collaboration, and innovation.\n\nContinuous learning: learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with the team.\n\nThe Details\nTech stack: Kotlin and MongoDB on the back end, TypeScript and React on the front end, and AWS for infrastructure. We also use Valkey for caching and partner with Anthropic for AI models. Most of your work will be in Kotlin.\nInterview process: Intake call with our recruiter, hiring manager screen, culture interview, take-home assessment, a live technical review of your assessment with two engineers, a team collaboration interview with our product manager, and a leadership interview with our CTO.\nAlthough we list what we generally look for, we are very likely missing other attributes and skills that you have that could make you a great addition, but are not currently listed.
