Our office is in Nanaimo, British Columbia. We work closely with First Nations, municipalities, and agencies throughout British Columbia to deliver sustainable and community-focused infrastructure solutions.\n\nWe are currently seeking Engineer-in-Training (EIT) candidates to join our project teams and our well-established EIT Training Program, which supports your development toward registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).\n\nAbout the Role:\n\nThis position is open to recent graduates and to EITs with some work experience; candidates must have completed their degree and be registered, or eligible to register, as an EIT. The role is based out of our Nanaimo office, includes regular field work and travel to project sites and communities throughout Vancouver Island, and begins in January 2027.\n\nAs an EIT with Chatwin, you will be an integral part of our project teams working on First Nation infrastructure and land development projects. Typical areas of work include:\n\nWater supply, well source development, distribution system modelling, reservoir design, and disinfection systems\nSanitary collection systems, forcemains, pump stations, and wastewater treatment\nStormwater management and general civil engineering design\nResidential and commercial land development servicing\nYou will have opportunities to participate in:\n\nField reviews, site inspections, and construction monitoring\nPreparation of construction specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, and contract administration support\nTopographic, construction layout, and as-built surveying\nCoordination with clients, community representatives, contractors, and sub-consultants\nInfrastructure design and analysis\nPreparation of feasibility studies, detailed design reports, construction documentation, and as-built deliverables\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\n\nCompleted accredited degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline\nRegistered, or eligible to register, as an EIT with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office\nExperience with hydraulic modelling tools such as WaterCAD, StormNET, or similar software (an asset)\nCo-op or work experience in municipal, water/wastewater, or land development design, including field reviews or construction monitoring (an asset)\nValid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence in good standing\nStrong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills\nInterest in working with Indigenous communities and supporting sustainable infrastructure development\n\nOur EIT Program is published on our website at www.chatwinengineering.com and outlines the structured path we provide for mentorship, technical development, and advancement toward P.Eng. registration.\n\nWhy Join Chatwin?\n\nWe offer a competitive salary ranging from $75,000 to $109,000 annually, along with an industry-leading benefits package.
