Guided by research-led innovation and a developer-first\nmindset, we help every developer, security team, and enterprise build software that is risk-free\nby design.\nWhat are we looking for?\nAs we continue to evolve our platform, we're looking for an exceptionalSoftware Architect Staff to help shape the next generation of our cloud architecture and AI-powered engineering platform.\nIf you're passionate about solving complex distributed systems challenges, driving architectural excellence, and defining how AI transforms software engineering, we'd love to meet you.\nHow will you make an impact?\nLead architecture and evolution of Checkmarx's cloud-native SaaS platform.\nLead the organization's transformation from a traditional Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to an AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC), defining the vision, architecture, and best practices for AI-native software engineering.\nTake an active role in designing, building, and evolving Checkmarx's next-generation agentic development platform, enabling developers to leverage AI agents throughout the entire software development lifecycle.\nDesign highly scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available distributed systems.\nPartner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and development teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.\nProduce high-quality architecture documents, technical designs, RFCs, implementation plans, and long-term technology roadmaps.\nStay hands-on by building proof-of-concepts, validating new technologies, reviewing critical designs, and contributing to production code when needed.\nDrive platform-wide improvements around scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.\nGuide engineering teams through architectural decisions using technical leadership, collaboration, and influence.\nMentor engineers and technical leaders while promoting engineering best practices across multiple R&D teams.\nPresent architectural strategies and technical proposals to audiences ranging from developers to senior leadership and business stakeholders.\nRequirements\nWhat is needed to succeed?\n 10+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed software systems.\nProven experience as a Software Architect, Principal Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.\nDeep expertise designing and operating cloud-native SaaS platforms at scale.\nExtensive hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and modern cloud architecture.\nStrong Kubernetes expertise, including experience with technologies such as KEDA, Karpenter, and modern autoscaling strategies.\nDeep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, high availability, resilience, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.\nStrong knowledge of modern database technologies, data architecture, and large-scale data platforms.\nExcellent architecture documentation and technical writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.\nExperience collaborating with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and software development teams.\nStrong leadership skills with the ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.\nOutstanding communication and interpersonal skills.\nA hands-on mindset-you enjoy building, experimenting, validating ideas, and working directly with engineering teams.\nNice to Have\n Experience building AI-native systems or integrating Large Language Models into production environments.\nExperience designing or implementing AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC) processes.\nExperience building developer AI platforms, coding agents, agentic workflows, or engineering automation systems.\nExperience with technologies such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration frameworks, or AI evaluation platforms.\nExperience developing production software using Go, Java, Node.js, and .NET Core.\nHands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required.
