You'll pair day to day with our Product Design Lead, turning product ideas and designs into polished, intuitive interfaces that shoppers use every day.\nThis is a UI-focused seat on a small team that ships quickly. If you care about how a feature feels as much as whether it works, and you'd rather get a first version in front of shoppers than wait on a perfect spec, this is your seat.\nPlease note: this role is a US-based role only and we cannot offer visa sponsorship for this role at this time.\nWhat You'll Do\nBuild the Shopper Experience\nBuild and ship UI across the Checkmate mobile app and desktop browser extension, the two places shoppers find and use their offers\nTurn designs into production UI that matches them down to the spacing, type, and motion\nOwn the details that make a product feel finished: loading, empty, and error states, transitions, and interaction feedback\nPartner with Design and Marketing\nWork side by side with our Product Design Lead to go from idea to shipped, prototyping in code when that's faster than a mockup\nPartner with our Head of Marketing to bring launches, campaigns, and new offer experiences to life in the product quickly\nSpeak up with a better approach when something will look, feel, or perform worse than it could\nMake the Extension Feel Right Everywhere\nBuild extension UI that shows up cleanly on top of thousands of retailer sites, without breaking the page or getting in the shopper's way\nEnsure the extension experience fits seamlessly within a shopping journey for our millions of users\nKeep the app and extension fast, lightweight, and consistent across browsers and devices\nGrow the Component System\nBuild and maintain shared, reusable components so new features come together quickly and look consistent across every surface\nHelp set our front-end standards through code reviews, accessibility, and performance\nUse AI tools (Cursor, Claude, and the like) to move faster while keeping full ownership of quality\nRequirements\nWho You Are\nYou have a strong eye for UI, and you notice when something is a few pixels off, a beat too slow, or just doesn't feel right\nYou start with the user’s problem and you care deeply whether what you shipped works well and looks appealing\nYou'd rather ship a first version and iterate than spend weeks polishing a PR\nYou love building closely with designers and marketers, and people find you easy to work with\nYou use AI tools thoughtfully to move faster without dropping quality\nWhat You Bring\n3-5 years building production front-end, with a portfolio of shipped consumer UI we can see, use, or dig into\nStrong skills in TypeScript and React\nExperience shipping UI for mobile apps and/or browser extensions in React Native\nSolid fundamentals in responsive layout, animation, accessibility, and front-end performance\nA track record of building reusable components that other engineers enjoy using\nClear communication with designers, marketers, and engineers, in writing and in reviews\nBonus: App Store and Google Play release experience, Chrome extension (Manifest V3) experience, motion and animation chops, or time at a consumer shopping or rewards product\nWhy This Role Matters\nOur app and extension are where shoppers meet the Checkmate network: where the right offer shows up at the right moment and a shopper decides to buy.
