This position will report directly to a senior AI & Data Science Team Member.\nThe Generative AI & Data Science Intern will work closely with our team to create and deploy predictive AI models and GenAI solutions to support all areas of the business, including R&D, Finance, Manufacturing, Legal, and Environment/Safety functions of the company.\n Location: Wilmington, Delaware (remote work possible for outstanding candidates, who must be able to comfortably work 8am-5pm East Coast Time)\n Hours: Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week (must not be enrolled in coursework at the same time as interning)\nPreferred Start Date: ROLLING ADMISSIONS - We will host 1-3 interns at all times throughout the year.\nPreferred duration of work: At least 6 continuous months\nThe responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:\nDevelop predictive models using tools in the Azure platform (eg. Microsoft Fabric, Azure ML Studio, etc.)\nWrite data preparation and analysis routines in Python using the pandas and scikit-learn packages\nParticipate in dataset design and statistical modeling discussions\nIntegrate process control solutions with data science models\nDesign and deploy GenAI solutions and apps into production enterprise environments\nCollaborate on full-stack development for small applications and efficient UI/UX workflow building\nApply and share best practices for designing and delivering GenAI hybrid search\nSpecific examples of exciting projects that you could work on:\nEstablish evaluations & improve accuracy of a GenAI model that is being used to extract chemical property information (eg. boiling point) from millions of pages of literature\nEstablish evaluations & enhance accuracy & relevance metrics of a hybrid search + RAG GenAI model used to query Operations & Safety procedures\nUse your ML experience to evaluate which approach (model + tuning) works best to predict chemical properties of a compound (eg. flammability)\nGather UX requirements, and build a front-end/UI (using React, Streamlit, etc.) for the Legal team to make it easy for non-technical users to process a high volume of documents using our custom GPT/ GenAI script.\nDesign multi-agent systems that break down complex user requests into smaller, actionable subtasks to improve answer quality and adherence to guardrails\nThe following isrequired for this role:\nEnrollment at an accredited college or university pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or Post-Doctoral degree in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, Computational Chemistry, or other a very similar field to those\n2+ years of programming experience with Python including experience using pandas and scikit-learn packages\n1+ year practical experience in data science building predictive ML models (e.g. having done feature selection and engineering, model selection and hyperparameter tuning, data cleansing, data analysis); typical use cases will involve working with time-series data and/or chemical properties to make predictions AND/OR 1+ yr practical experience developing GenAI applications (using RAG, hybrid search, building UI for applications, etc.)\nFast learner and strong collaborator, who can work efficiently with high output\nStrong communication skills with the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience\nTo support collaboration with our team and stakeholders, this internship requires candidates to be based in and able to work during Eastern or Central Time Zone business hours.\nThe following ispreferred for this role:\nCurrently enrolled in or who have completed a Master’s, PhD, or Post-Doctoral program\nAbility to continue for 6+ months\n1+ year of hands-on full-stack development skills: React, NodeJS, FastAPI, SQL, Git, CI/CD\nCandidates with prior experience working in Enterprise environments at other companies, especially building and deploying apps and GenAI agents into production using platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS (preferably Azure)\nMinimum GPA of 3.0 or above\nHigh proficiency in analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving capabilities\nStrong leadership qualities in taking initiative to drive results\nMotivation to tackle complex, real-life business problems and build a robust professional resume\nBenefits:\nCompetitive Compensation\nComprehensive Benefits Packages\n401(k) Match\nEmployee Stock Purchase Program\nTuition Reimbursement\nCommuter Benefits\nLearning and Development Opportunities\nStrong Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives\nCompany-paid Volunteer Day\nWe’re a different kind of chemistry company because we see our people as our biggest assets.
