By putting people at the center of our operations, we build strong connections, nurture innovation, and create fulfilling work experiences for all.\nScope of the Position\nThe Operations Supervisor, at our Anacortes, WA sulphur production facility, are responsible for the direct, safe day-to-day supervision of operations personnel.\nTroubleshoot and resolve equipment and operating problems.\nReview operating data daily. \nMonitor raw material utilization and production yields to ensure most efficient utilization of materials and optimization of quality products.\nMonitor and ensure environmental compliance for all areas of operation; air, water, and solid.\nSupport and participate in Responsible Care programs to maintain safe working conditions for employees and the environment. \nPrepare, update and review operation procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility.\nOperations and maintenance activities to meet department goals involving budgets, production schedules and raw materials consumption.\nWhat You Need To Be Successful\nRequires a high school diploma. Further education preferred.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft office applications required\nTechnical training: Process Safety Management, Hazardous Materials training\n5-7 years of highly hazardous chemical plant experience, with Sulfur Recovery Unit experience preferred.\nKey Responsibilities\n30%Monitor and direct production. \nTo know, understand, and ensure the unit is operated within its limits and according to the regulatory permits. \nProvide technical training and assistance to operation personnel. \nProvide plant personnel process knowledge. \nTrack production and unit consumption rates. \nControl operation cost. \nReview operating data daily and report and Investigate deviations from set operating parameters and initiate corrective actions. \nIdentify and initiate process/production improvements and modifications. \n\n20%Work Orders are entered correctly and approved. \nAssist Operations Manager in improving effectiveness and efficiency of plant Operations, including implementation of new standards in operating discipline. \nProvide limited vacation relief for Operations Manager and Acid plant operations supervisor.\nOn-call during regular weeknights for SRU related malfunctions and participates in the site’s weekend duty on-call roster.\n\n10%Trouble-shoot and resolve equipment and operating problems in the unit.\nMonitor environmental emissions and wastewater discharge.\n\n10%Train and ensure operations personnel are trained to perform their duties safely.\nSupport and participate in all training initiatives as required.\nEnsure all operations personnel know and receive their regulatory, safety, and environmental training.\n\n5%Responsible for the accuracy and development of operating procedures, ensuring periodic procedure reviews are completed, process modifications and equipment changes are updated to improve plant operations.\n\n5%Assist in PHA reviews, Managements of Change reviews, Regulatory, Environmental, Safety, and ISO audits, and ensure that action items resulting from these audits and safety incidents are completed.\n\n5%Attend and conduct safety meetings and area inspections of the plant.\nTo ensure that action items resulting from these meetings are completed.\n\n5%Assist Maintenance and Engineers with project work and design and evaluate unit operations for process improvements. \n\n5% - Perform other duties as assigned\n5% - Oversee and manage LOTO/ECP activities during routine maintenance, projects and Turnaround related activities.\nPhysical Demands/Work Environment\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:\nEmployee is frequently required to stand for large part of day and may have to stand in one position for periods of time.
