CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.\nThe Jr. Database Engineer, you will work with a broad range of customers on\nenterprise database design and implementation strategies while applying Esri technology best\npractices. You will consult with customers to understand business and technical\nrequirements, design enterprise data management strategies, and implement those strategies\nthroughout the engagement life cycle. You will work both independently and as part of\nproject teams to configure back-end geospatial database management capabilities that\nsupport customer workflows utilizing ArcGIS web, desktop, and mobile applications.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation, including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment\nConfigure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies\nMonitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (such as query optimization, indexing strategies)\nImplement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environments\nAutomate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency\nProvide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projects\nOther duties as assigned\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field\n1+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANAFamiliarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security\nScripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows\n\nActive or Current (within two years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in technical support or customer-facing GIS roles\nExperience with data conversion or migration\nKnowledge of Linux and UNIX environments\nFamiliarity with web mapping and remote sensing tools\nProficiency in Python scripting and SQL\nGIS certifications\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nKnowledge of Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows environments\nExposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing\nAbility to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and nontechnical project managers or customers\nAbility to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting\nMust be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment\nDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals\nFriendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.\nExcellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications\nProficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting, as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.\nAbility to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.\nGood problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it\nHow you’ll grow\nAt Chenega MIOS, our professional development plan focuses on helping our team members at every level of their careers to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
