Formed in 2017 to serve federal and commercial customers, CABS is 8(a) certified and has grown quickly into a leader in the federal IT and Training environment.\nThe Network Engineer will provide support services crucial in maintaining and troubleshooting a diverse range of legacy and current IT systems for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Rome, NY.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, implement, and maintain network systems, including hardware, COMSEC, software, and protocols, along with optimizing network performance, reliability, and security. \nMinimize downtime and ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.\nPerform network and system troubleshooting to determine the root causes of any user issues or problems.\nDesign, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and TACLANE encryptors.\nMaintain network security from any external/internal threat and vulnerabilities through compliance with DISA STIGs, ACAS Vulnerability Scans, and RMF Compliance.\nMaintain inventory control of multiple types of networking equipment, COMSEC Keys, and TACLANEs, and act as COMSEC Responsible Officer and equipment custodian as needed.\nMonitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network performance to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.\nUtilize network monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential problems.\nCreate and maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures to facilitate troubleshooting, maintenance, security, and future upgrades.\nResponsible for packaging and sending unclassified and classified mail in accordance with government-mandated shipping procedures.\nFunction as a courier for classified equipment and materials between buildings and potentially between Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and remote locations, as required.\nSupport the answering security controls as part of the Risk Management Framework in order to maintain information system authorization to operate.\nAuthor and maintain Policies, Processes, and Procedures within the organization's Strategic IT Management framework.\nMaintain a neat, secure, and orderly facility.\nComplete annual company and customer training requirements according to established policies and procedures, as required.\nRecord labor hours daily in an online corporate system.\nOther duties as assigned\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required\nCurrent CompTIA Network+ OR a minimum of 3+ years of relevant work experience\n5+ years of network experience requiredExperience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, Fortinet, and VMware vSphere networking is desired\nExperience with TACLANE encryptors and GEM One is desired\nExperience with Microsoft Visio is desired\n\nCurrent CompTIA Security+ OR DoD 8570 IAT II baseline certification required\nMust possess a valid U.S. driver’s license\nSecret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI required\nSuccessfully pass background and drug screening\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nExperience with operating and maintaining IT systems in a DoD environment desired.\nExperience with operating and maintaining IT systems in a research or academic environment.\nExperience commensurate with DoD or AFRL Risk Management Framework (RMF) and hardening and operating IT systems accordingly.\nExperience with the application of the DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).\nExperience with data center-level hardware, including high-speed fiber optic-based networking and Storage Area Networks (SANs).\nExperience with helpdesk support of a highly technical, geographically distributed user base (scientists, engineers, and developers).\nMust be well organized, an effective communicator at multiple levels, and able to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications. \nMust be capable of quickly learning new systems and associated software applications for proficient execution of tasks. \nMust be capable of managing multiple tasks with time-related constraints in a fast-paced environment.\nPossess strong problem-solving skills.\nAbility to schedule and prioritize work to accommodate customer needs while minimizing the impact on current projects.\nAbility to work with all departments to ensure network availability, security, and accessibility.\nAbility to self-start and work independently or as a team.\nAbility to manage an enterprise IT environment comprised of Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, Fortinet, and General Dynamics TACLANEs.\nAbility to manage VMware vSphere TCP/IP, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel networking.\nAbility to manage a virtualized data center across multiple security classification levels, including Top Secret.\nAbility to travel up to 10% as requested.\nHow you’ll grow\nAt Chenega MIOS, our professional development plan focuses on helping our team members at every level of their careers to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
